We checked our daughter's suitcase on our last cruise and they broke a metal support bar in the suitcase if that gives you any idea of how rough of a ride the checked bags go through before they arrive at your room. I would only check a lap top if it was designed to survive being ran over by a semi. 10 times.

I have seen a pallet of luggage go over the side at the terminal when they were loading....this was in the very beginning of DCL but a forklift carrying a pallet of luggage when right off the pier (the pallet of luggage not the forklift).

Aack! What a disaster! Yet another reason not to pack anything valuable in checked bags.

We watched this process of loading luggage onto the Wonder over the summer in Vancouver. Precarious!
