Does a calorie count for the MDR menus exist?

I have been eating losing weight since the beginning of July and my cruise at the end of the month will be the first time since that I will be eating over 1300 calories a day. I am very concerned about going too far over board on the calories. Anyone know if there is a calorie count of the menus anywhere out there? Thanks.

Not saying if there is or not, but I've never seen one. I think you would need to have a generic counter of foods and do some quick calculations on the spot. That's what I do for my sodium count.

I haven't seen one. You could always ask your server for ideas on what would be healthiest. There's also a gym on board if you feel like eating more. I always take the stairs and wander the ship to try and get my exercise in too.

And congrats on eating healthily and losing weight! I know how very hard it can be. Try not to stress if you don't lose or even gain on vacation. Enjoy your cruise!

You can ask for your dishes to be made without the sauces if you want to save some calories.

I have never seen a calorie count for MDR food but they may have if you ask your servers.

Salt will cause you to gain water weight so don't panic. Try writing to DCL in advance to get the info.

I increase my water intake a lot on the cruise otherwise I bloat. Goes away in under a week though (unlike true weight gain.)

I found that eating all meals in the mdr's helps with portion control. On our last cruise my mom found she was too full after eating in the MDR for breakfast (egg white omelettes and lots of coffee do that to you ) she went to he buffet instead the following day and ended up eating three croissants- in addition to her breakfast. Needless to say she was back in the MDR next morning.

It is a scientific fact that calories consumed while on vacation do not count....they are not detrimental and are, indeed, therapeutic!

I would be very surprised if you can't get the caloric information on board. Disney is very good at providing information about food items for people who must watch what they eat for medical reasons. You should have your TA make a note on your reservation that you need this info and remind your head server again when you get to the dining room.

I seem to remember also the menu's identified healthier options.

Another thing you can do is kind of a mini weight watchers. Eat more fruit in the morning, maybe throw in some boiled egg whites(as even egg white omelette will have hidden calories if not made at home) for protein. At lunch eat a salad from the buffet that you can control what goes into it. Have some kind of snack like an apple with peanut butter. That way you can kind of 'splurge' on dinner and try all the great dishes without worrying TO much about calorie intake. And just try to make a point if getting up early in the morning and at least getting in a walk at the gym or around deck 4. And LOTS of water to help with sodium bloat.

Have fun!

This is what I thought also. I'm sure I read in some scientific journal that there are no calories in the food in the MDRs.

I just got back recently and I'm happy to say I only gained 6oz on my 7 day cruise and all I did was stop eating when I was full and take the stairs every where even up to the 11th from the 5th floor and back

I was on vacation so my diet stayed home but since I was already on a diet (also 1300 a day) I noticed I got full a lot faster and so I would stop my way of indulging is I would take 1 bite of steak 1 bite of this or that and the rest was trash (sorry I wasted food but my health is more important)
