Chess King = Satan's dominion. Puffy clothes, shiny shirts and super skinny piano key ties. Yeesh!

And yes, I did have a Member's Only jacket back in the day, when I was in high school. Then again, I had worn a lot of things back then that I look at in pictures and say, what in God's name was I thinking? Why did anyone let me outside like that? Aah, the 80's.

Ditto! I was (and still am, to a degree) into the Hair Metal look in the late '80's with the HUGE bouffant bangs, skin tight acid jeans with the obligatory ripped knees and hightop Reebok "princess' shoes.

There was a store in our area called "The $7 Store". Everything was only $7 or less, and it was really cool, well made merchandise. I think I cried the day THAT one closed.

Speaking of Picway Shoes, we used to have a store in Pennsylvania called Pic-a-shoe.

Whatever happened to Rickels? It was like a Home Depot/Lowes/Hechingers home improvement store.

I remember Kinney shoes, as well as Thom McCann shoes. My favorite was Baker's shoes, we don't have them down here in VA, but I know there are still a few in PA.

Massachusetts people might remember some of these. . .

Jordan Marsh: Geee, I still miss that store.

Remicks: I think there was only one and that was in Quincy Square. It was owned by actress Lee Remick's family.

Going way back... Kennedy's. A small store that sold eggs, milk, cheese, etc.

Sterns. There was one in Boston when I was a kid. I remember my grandmother taking me there and I thought it was so cool cause they had an elevator.

Oh, and the store that said it was the home of unkle Eff or Eef. LOL! Can't remember the name of the store at the moment but there was one in Boston and also in Quincy. My DH just remembered... Raymonds!!!

Fun thread!
