Not to be snarky, but there's been lots of people that have tried a Transatlantic cruise.

Here's one trip report:

13 Cruises, 8 ships, 124 nights
Panama Canal; Alaska; Med; WB Transatlantic; Mexican Riviera; Hawaii; Baja CA; Bahamas; Eastern/Western Caribbean

DL too numerous to count WDW 1974, 1983, 1985, 1989, 1991, 1997, 2001, 2008, 2014 Tokyo DL 1984

We did the EBTA in May. The best sailing for us so far (have also done Alaska and California Coastal Pixar). Love the sea days and itinerary. No desire to go to the Bahamas or Caribbean. CC is just "eh" for us, but we have fun anyway.

We are doing WBPC next (so excited), and also the trip you are talking about, WBTA.

I did the WestBound Transatlantic (WBTA) in 2010 and loved every minute!! I am scheduled to sail the WBTA in 2014 and I'm very excited as only two ports (Barcelona and St.Maarten) are repeats. I love all the sea days and love the 25 hour days as we sail across the Atlantic!!

I have done both EBTA (April 2010) and WBTA (Sep 2011) on the Magic.

If you are looking for a relaxing, nothing-required-of-you cruise, this would suit the bill.

The WBTA (September) cruise is definitely easier on the body, as you gain 6 hours as you cross the ocean. On the EB, you have to set your clock forward for 6 days, really messing up your sleep schedule.

We had great weather both cruises - never a guarantee.

The ports in the Caribbean are a real bonus - it's like having a 7-night Caribbean cruise tacked onto a Transatlantic crossing! And often to ports that Disney doesn't usually visit.

I like cruising for the ports (ie, Mediterranean or Alaska) and am somewhat bored on all those Sea Days (ship-provided activity was sorely lacking on both these cruises), but the Caribbean ports help make up for all those "dull (to me)" days.

In the past, TAs didn't fill up and were offered at reduced rates after PIF date (before the days of I, O, V-GT rates).

Airfare has proven to be the killer; if you can find a good one-way ticket to Europe, it's one of the best ways to spend lots on time on a Disney cruise.

I had done the September 2010 WBTA and it was one of my favorite cruises. Not only was the price great the ship seemed to be less crowded than any of my other subsequent Disney cruises, the price was very reasonable and I really enjoyed spending 14 nights on the ship. In fact I enjoyed it so much that I am on the September 2014 WBTA cruise.
