Help on upgrading to Concierge Family Oceanview

We are currently booked for a oceanview w/verandah (deck 7) and we are thinking of upgrading at the port to concierge if anything is still available. Anyone ever do this and what makes concierge better in your opinion?

all of your personal experiences will be extremely helpful in making our decision

thanks in advance and praying it will still be available when we check in at port!!

The cost might be low enough on a 4n cruise to justify it for me, but honestly I personally don't care about the lounge and sundeck, so concierge would be about the 120-day booking window and shoreside booking things for me so I don't have to think about it. Unless you are needing to scramble for Remy, Palo, or nursery reservations, I would save the money to go full concierge on another cruise. It's unlikely there will be a cabana available for you at this point.

We only do at least 7-day cruises and think concierge is worth it on the Fantasy, but not on the Magic. The lounge is a private, quiet place for little extras, like the coffee bar, snacks, and cocktail hour. That is where we used the free 100 minutes, though they can be used anywhere. I greatly enjoyed the private sun deck - very quiet. We tried booking cruises less than a year in advance on the Fantasy and could not get concierge. I say go for it!

My DW and I upgraded at port on one of the first Dream cruises, for $750. We really enjoyed the concierge lounge, would pop in there before dinner for a drink, had espresso there in the morning, and got bottled water there in between. We loved the private sunbathing deck - it was quiet, and there was hardly anyone there most of the time.

The room was essentially the same as a deluxe family veranda, so it's really the lounge, the sundeck – and, perhaps most importantly, the concierge team. These are the best of DCL's best, and they are terrific.

Is it worth it? That's clearly a personal choice, but my DW and I are waitlisted for this on an up-coming Fantasy cruise next February.

Hope this helps,
Richard

There are tons of threads laying out all the benefits. For any family considering the upgrade, you have to figure out IF those benefits are worth something to you. Are the benefits you would actually have available to you valuable to you. We upgraded before the cruise, but inside the 120 mark, so we didn't have full access to booking everything, but that didn't matter to us. It wasn't why we upgraded.

Once you've decided which benefits are valuable to your family, you'll have to find out IF an upgrade is available and how much it is, and see if the cost to upgrade matches the value you have in mind. That's really all any particular traveling group can do, when it comes to something as relatively nebulous as the value of concierge level.

I am looking to do the same on the Dream for an early December Dream 4n. I search cruisefish.net to see if the at V is available for the cruise (right now, no cat V, only cat T and if so, go to dcl website to see how many cat V are left. Right now, still 8 cat T left at less than 60 days less. I haven't booked it yet since we have a fantasy cruise in 14 days. Will book a cat 5 onboard for the 10% discount, and OBC of $100. The reason I won't book it now is that the cost of the cat 5 for 3 is about 2000 with discount and full price for cat T is 5400. Looking for a 1000 or so upgrade opportunity at checkin. I do know going in that I may not get this and since it is only a 4 night, I won't be too disappointed if we don't get it. For the Fantasy in 2 weeks, we definitely went ahead and booked early for the 120 window perk and even got a cabana, Palo brunch and preferred dining rotation.

We are concierge for our upcoming 3-night on the Magic. The only reason we booked is because the difference between a verandah room for a family of 5 and the 1br concierge suite was only $450. We don't need most of the advantages (no nursery, no cabanas, no Palo), so for us it was about the room. We would not have paid much for concierge class with the same room.

That said, this is our first experience with DCL, so maybe I'll have a different perspective when we get home!

Good luck on that! Ive been looking online and hardly anything is open for 00V. You may be able to get a 1 bedroom concierge

You should call concierge and let them know that you are interested in an upgrade, should one become available. That's what we did. About a week later they gave us a complimentary upgrade from a deluxe to a 1BR! Maybe they hang on to several just to make the magic happen
