My daughter passport was taking trhee years ago, but she looks so young and now she change a lot. Should I renew her passport before our Mediterranean cruise?. The passport expire january 25, 2015 and we travel May 31, 2014.

Unless you've made a typo on your dates, then you have to renew her passport before you cruise, you're cruising in May, but her passport expires in January?

If you mean her passport expires in January 2015 and you're cruising in May 2014, you should be fine. Kids passports are good for 5 years, and it's expected that they'll change quite a bit in those 5 years.

I thought that's what you meant. You should be just fine. We did a trip with older passports for our kiddos and it was just fine.

My child changed a lot from her passport picture but the passport was still valid. We used it for the cruise and had no problem.

My son changed appearance considerably, and the customs agent had to take a second look, but there was no problem. Kids can grow a lot in just a few years. You should be fine.

My sister was working in Singapore a few years ago and went to Thailand on holiday. Her passport pic showed a considerably thinner, younger blond woman versus the older, heavier woman with dyed almost jet black hair which was her current appearance. The agents in Thailand looked at her passport pic, then back at her, back to the pic and then back at her again. She said, "yeah, it's me" and laughed. They let her go through. Lol

So on the flip side, if you DO want to get it renewed, you can renew it anytime within the 12 months prior to it's expiration... just a thought. I don't know if that's true everywhere or only if you live overseas(which I do) but that's what I was told by the State Dept offcial over here.

You should be fine. Both of my boys got passports when they were too young to even sit up (my DH had to hide under a white sheet to hold them up!) and we have used it recently without a problem (my oldest son is 4 years older than when his pic was taken)

People who work with passports know that kids, especially, change quite a bit! A friend of mine is getting a passport for his few-months-old baby, and it will be good until she's 5. Absolutely no need to renew it before its time; if this were a problem then they would have kid passports renew every 6 months, LOL.
