Um, yes I was comparing it to paying the per night rate for a villa room. Apples to apples.

Amen! For those of us who go once or twice a decade, renting points makes perfect sense.

Planning a completely amazing (albeit short) surprise trip for our two kids between their 7th and 4th birthdays (his Jan 18 and hers Feb 4). We last went down in the fall when daughter was 4 and son was 20 months. Saw crowds are minimal this time of year and knowing my kids and their lack of patience, this is key to success. Planning for January 23 - 27/8 with 3/4 park days at WL bunk bed. Goal is for low key FUN. Cannot wait to pick the kids up from school and head right to the airport!! Debating RO and SPD now as we wait for the discount, but I should book the room now before the promotion is released? Yes? No?

I don't eat onions-they squelch when you bite into them
I don't eat raisins-they look like dried up bugs
Can we say food issues?

I booked a RoomOnly already on a AAA discount (not through AAA just did a AAA discount myself). I figure if nothing comes out that fits my trip than I already have a room.

But if you book a room only and a package deal comes out you can not apply your RO deposit to a package, you have to book your package put down a deposit then cancel your RO and wait for a refund for that. They say it can take awhile but in Oct my refund showed up one week later. This also applies to the opposite. If you book a package and then later a RO discount comes out that you want to change too, you have to make a new reservation and pay a new deposit, then cancel the old and wait for that deposit to be credited back.

If you modify the same type of package than deposits can be transferred. RO or Rack Rate undiscounted can be modified to a RO discount. Undiscounted packages can be modified to Package deals (SDP or Free Dining, etc).

We were at the WL the first week of Feb and it turned out that a RO discount was a better deal than the SPD plan. Since your children are already going to be charged children's prices, the only discount is for the adults. But you'll have to crunch the numbers, to see what works best for your family.

We booked our room in July and then when the discounts came out in early October, they applied the discount to our existing reservation, probably because the resort wasn't full and there was availability.

levels of discount?

RO saved us more last year than S/P/D. If anyone is aware, can you please if any resorts are specifically excluded from the 2014 offer?

Specifically interested in WL, but just a regular room not a Villa.

Thanks!

We are going Jan. 2-8. We have a AAA rate, but hoping for a better discount.

It's a discount for members of American Automobile Association. The discount amount varies depending on resort, but it's 20% off POFQ for our dates in January. The discount amount may also vary based on the time of year as well. I'm not sure.

So, can something like this be applied to an already existing reservation? Or is it 'new reservations only' ??
