Objectively I'd say it's a toss-up between GF and Poly for top resort.

I've visited but not stayed at the Poly. I gave my DIL her choice last December and she said she's never liked the look of the Poly. She finds it too dark and 70s looking. She told me she had a long time dream of staying at Grand Floridian. But Poly is the best location for transportation since you can walk to TTC. If I do a trip without my DIL, Poly is high on my to try list.

So DIL and I stayed in one of the outer buildings at GF. I thought I was going to feel very out of place at GF. I'm just not into "fancy". But it was surprisingly comfortable. I loved being able to see the MK when I walked to our room. I was surprised on occasion to hear music coming across the lagoon. I enjoyed the monorail when it worked and the boats coming back from MK. I particularly loved walking by the Gingerbread House late at night when the lobby was empty.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the deluxes. I'd pick the one closest to the park you want to visit the most or the theme that appeals the most.
bek all of the rooms at the Poly have now been refurbished and are very contemporary looking now but still have the island feel. It is much less dark than it once was as they have also changed the carpeting too. The buildings are still dark brown though and I don't know if that is what she meant.
