Visual Impaired Child

We will be traveling with a child that is visual impaired. She will not be able to see the shows unless we are on the first two rows. How early should we show up the the shows to get seats this close?

Can you ask disability services if there are any accommodations? We have a friend who is vision impaired and he has had accommodation at concerts and plays when he has contacted the persons responsible for handicap accessible seating.

Arrive early (30 mins at most should do the trick) advise the Cast Member at the doors that you need to be seated in the front row because of the visual impairment (they reserve most of the row for persons with disabilities) and they will escort you to the row :-) Have a GREAT time!

I believe you can contact the Special Needs Department ahead of time (the email address or telephone number must be somewhere on the DCL site - if not - just call and ask for it)

This is a case where I feel it is important and totally proper for arrangements to made in advance to ensure she'll be able to enjoy the shows.

Now, I know they will reserve an area in the front for Deaf passengers and if contacted in time will provide interpreters.

Simply speak to one of the entertainment staff. The CMs at the theater doors tend to be the same each night, so they will get to know you. It won't be a problem for them to escort you into the theater early so your DD can be accommodated. If you get there early and there isn't a CM outside, just step inside the door. There will be CMs inside and you can let them know you need assistance. I had to do that one time.

I would contact the Special Needs Department at DCL in advance. Get it noted on your reservation. As a child, she likely will be accompanied by an adult at all/most times, but in the event of emergency and you get separated it's good to let DCL know. Also, they may be able to make some accommodations in the Club/Lab. I also suspect they'll give you instructions how to get adequate seating for the shows.

Link to Guests with Disabilities on the DCL website: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/sh...-disabilities/
phone number for the Special Needs Dept.: (407) 566-3500 [voice] or (407) 566-7455 [TTY].

Enjoy your cruise!

We contacted that department beforehand and spoke with them extensively about the situation, but I still found it helpful to introduce myself to one of the CMs onboard. The club may have the information in the system, but they aren't going to know who you are around the ship.
