Pay-as-you-go (low mileage) Car Insurance?

Does anyone have any information/recommendation on Pay-as-you-go or low mileage car insurance? I live in downtown Chicago and I drive my car, at most 50 miles a week: and that is the very high end - there are many weeks where my car doesn't leave the garage at all or like this week, where I drove to Target, which is about 8 miles round trip. The problem is, I am paying almost $100 a month on car insurance. It seems like such a waste for a car that spends 98% of the year in a garage.

I understand that progressive and other insurance companies offer a low-mileage/pay-as-you-go policy. Does anyone have any experience with these?

For reference, my 2009 Acura has 12,000 miles on it.

It's your zip code.

I have Metlife and pay under $500 a year. My 2003 just hit 30,000 miles.

Of course I live in the western suburbs so my rates are lower. I'm married and female.

Time for you to ditch the car and get a zip car membership.

I would consider a zip car too! I used to use it for about 8 months until I got a car. It was nice not having to worry about maintenance or paying for gas. And it was also nice driving around different kind of cars.

But I wish I'd drive as much as you do, I'm closing in on 18,000 miles for the 11 months that I've had my car.

I don't have any information for you but I would love to have a car with so little mileage!

Just the idea of not having maintenance on my car every 3/4 months due to driving it all the time would be heaven!

Is it a private home garage or is it a garage for the entire complex? If it's an open garage, you still have to worry about break ins and damage to your vehicle. Comprehensive and collision coverage is what adds to the bill more than the liability coverage.
