OP, I scrapbook, sew, crochet, machine embroider and do photo editing in my craft room. It was my daughter's downstairs bedroom. We're in the process of adding upper cabinets and better lighting. It's really nice to have a dedicated space.

My questions are:

1. What supplies should I purchase as general must have supplies?

2. What crafts to make? Not an artsy person at all.

3. Are there other organizer things I should have? I will also move my sewing repair stuff into the mix.

4. Is making bead jewlery hard or expensive?

5. What are the "in" crafts right now?
How about tatting

I'm looking for a comfortable chair to go on sale. And I need to get a file cabinet type storage that I can put next to the desk to store files and extra supplies. I haven't even thought about the closet yet. I think there are some pretty neat storage units that might fit nicely in a closet!

Hope you enjoy the beading class! That sounds like fun! I agree with the idea of trying out a bunch of different classes before you buy any kind of supplies, even the basics.

I have seen, for many folks, not everyone of course, that the real hobby is shopping. They have loads of supplies, but spend their time shopping for more versus doing the actual hobby.

I have a tip too with photos. If you have photos grouped together, either all in one album, or on one layout, there is no need to label all of the photos. Label one big group shot. If the photos are loose, gather them all into one envelope, and then too you only have to label one photo. Same with dates and locations. What really makes photos special is the stories they tell. What is it that you cannot see? Why was the day special? Is there a funny story to share.....?

with labeling be sure to label the non family members, such as a friend, or next door neighbor. These are the people, who years later, will baffle future generations wondering who that person was, when he or she is not in any other photos, and isn't related.

With labeling too, don't put off the labeling because you can't remember an exact date or location just write the month and year, the state and that you were on vacation..... Many times we get tied up in the details so much so that we can't finish a project, such as labeling.
