Excel experts - Help

I am trying to plot some data and I am at a loss

Here's the data

ID: Student 1, Student 2, Student 3, ...
Score: 65, 75, 80 ....

I create a line plot of student vs score

I want to add an average line to that plot. Is there a way in the Edit Data box to create a second data set where the x-values are the Student ID range (say A1:E1) and they all use the same Y value (say B2 which would be the average value).

OR

Do I need to change the data to be

ID: Student 1, Student 2, Student 3, ...
Score: 65, 75, 80 ....
Average: 73, 73,73 ...

and prepare the plot that way with one line being student vs score and the other student versus average.

Microsoft offers tutorials online for all of its software, not necessarily on YouTube.

I would do your second idea. There might be a more "elegant" way, but the ends justify the means in this case.

ETA: You could even "hide" the Average row so someone looking at the spreadsheet doesn't think it's that students average.
