DH finished his plate at 50's Prime Time. They were so proud they made it a Hidden Mickey!

A Little Nervous

We are planning on heading back to WDW October 2014. We have decided that after 3 trips and staying in the MK resort area we are ready for a change. We have decided to stay in the Epcot area. We are looking at either BC or BWI. We are probably staying standard and I'm not too concerned about the view (although the view of the Eifel Tower from BWI is pretty nice). Due to my DHs work demands this year, he will not be able to pick his vacation time until January. I will be on the phone at 5am as soon as I find out his vacation. I'm just worried that waiting that long will result in no availability. Do you think we have a shot at getting either one of these resorts 9 months out?

If you were talking about DVC's then your chances would be a lot less but for regular rooms you should be fine. There will not be any October discounts out at that time so you will have an excellent chance. If it was me, I really would not even worry about it being booked. I just checked and I could get a room at BWI this year from Oct 11 - 19 this is only 3 months out.

I'm not sure if it helps, but we booked out split POR/YC last year about 7 months in advance. We started with one room at POR a year out and then made it 2 rooms at POR 9 months out, and then decided on a split about 7 months out (just a few weeks before the 180 day point for ADRs). We had no problems, and that was for late June.

There is always a risk - you never know - but if you are flexible with the 3 EPCOT resorts, you should be able to get something. If nothing else, you could always book your IDEAL dates room only and then adjust once you get confirmation. Good luck and I hope it works out!

I got a BCV studio for July 4 week at 9 months out. It'll be a stretch for you due to f&w but don't count it out

I got a BCV studio at 7 months out also, so it is definitely possible!

I don't think you'll have any problem getting either resort. As others have said, October is very popular for the Epcot resorts as F&W is going on, but I think 9 months ahead is plenty of time to get a room at either resort. If you don't get your first choice, book your second choice and keep checking as people cancel all the time and you never know when something else might become available .

Thanks for all the replies. If we can get the vacation days I want we will head into Orlando on Oct 16 and check into WDW on Oct 19. My DS is the only one of my kids going and he gets almost an entire week off from school. Since we have the extra days we were planning on checking out USO for a couple of days since I have never been.

If you are worried- just book on 7/10 when the rates come out and then you can always cancel/change it without penalty when you know his vacation dates.

We stayed at BC last weekend and made the ressie on Tuesday, 3 days before we were going to arrive. I had a room at BWI that I had initially booked in May that we changed from. The rate for both was under $300 per night so my point is that you can not only get rooms but at a substantial discount even if you don't book 12+ months out.

In April we decided to go end of July (in 3 weeks) for 2 weeks. Got rooms at Poly/Riverside/Boardwalk. Also made 15 dining reservations including last week at Le Cellier. Have never had trouble with reservations. Now Be Our Guest is a horse of a different color!

Thanks again for all the great replies. I do have another question though. We will definitely have 3 of us maybe 4. My DD 14 may or may not go. If she doesn't want to go , as she has stated many many times my Sister 15 might. What would be the best way to book this? Would it be better to book for 4 using dd and change the guest or cancel the 4 th guest? Or book 3 and add 1 later?
