"Rapid Fill Mugs" Coming Soon!

So, what do you think about this? I just hope they have a new mug design, I already have 6 of the current mugs and would like something new.

I can see why Disney wants to do this. On one hand it is nice for a short trip that it is cheaper. Although ultimately it is a price hike, but for our eight night trip in November it would be cost effective. I can't remember will the mugs get the Tables in Wonderland discount?

For me, the best part is that we can use them at ANY resort, rather than just the resort where we purchased it. We almost always do a split stay, so this would be good for us. I've never been 100% clear on whether it was within the guidelines to use the new generic mugs at places other than the point of purchase....now I don't have to wonder.

I won't be buying one, though, unless there's a new design. I don't like the current model.

I thought this idea died after the pilot program, but I guess not!

My one and only concern is split stays. The FAQs in this article make it sound like all mugs not purchased for 1, 2 or 3 days will be good for at least 14 days and won't expire at checkout. If that is so, then that's good news and takes away my concern.

Also, I am VERY pleased to hear that they can be used at any resort beverage station and not just the resort you check in at (as that would also cause an issue with split stays).

So, as long as the info in the FAQs is true and they don't decide to change anything, then sounds okay.

However, we will not be getting these without the dining plan. The mugs had already increased since our last stay and now they want $18 for a length of stay mug? That is over $100 for us, so we will probably pass.

This seems like a solution in search of a problem

Is it just me or does this most recent implementation of RFID technology scream "We don't trust you!"?

Do enough guests bring last year's mug with them to bring the computer chip cops in? Is Walt Disney losing that much money here? I don't bring last year's mug with me. I buy a new one, and I'd like to think that most guests are like me.

I realize that some guests will reuse last year's mug this year, but are there enough of them to justify alienating the guests that otherwise play by the rules? Eighteen dollars buys more soda than I can drink in a week when it is purchased from the Wal-Mart, Publix, Target, or Costco in Orlando.

Yes, I'm pretty sure.

Yep, I agree, if we're not using a dining plan in the future, I won't be purchasing mugs. And, if I'm not getting FD, I won't be buying a dining plan.

Not only last years mugs, you see mugs from every other park and every other kind of refillable mug out there being used. I've seen another post where people are upset because this is being implemented and they can't get free soda any more.

BUT, $18 is only a few drink purchases in Mouse Land!
Too bad this won't let us get refills in the parks too!
I wonder how many GaZillions WDW is making on drinks alone!
