Plans around 4th of July Celebrations at Magic Kingdom

Dear All,
We are getting to leave for our first family trip to WDW next tuesday.
I heard the 4th of July is a very busy day and some parks close to capacity.
We decided to go on the 3rd to see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom and skip that park on the 4th. Is the 3rd as busy as the 4th? Will it be OK to go in the afternoon or are we risking not getting in?

We have a late night flight on tuesday and are traveling with a toddler, so I wanted to give my son some time to rest before we head to the park, since we are planning to stay late to see the fireworks and the electrical parade
We are likely leaving the hotel around 2:30 (after his nap), and have Crystal palace reservations at 4, is that a good plan?

the fireworks are the same both nights.

It is EMH at the MK that night

think it is almost as bad - because disney has been doing this for years

By the time you get to the Magic Kingdom on the 3rd it will be wall to wall people. I've been on the 3rd, and the lines are enormous. I'm not sure how you would keep a little one happy and entertained. I was with my dad, and we knew going in we wouldn't be able to do many rides. We rode the train around a few times and did a lot of people watching.

I think you would be better off watching the fireworks from a resort, such as from the beach at the Poly. And then hitting MK very early on the 4th if you want to do some rides.

For the Limited Magic Promotion, the 4th of July celebrations will last from the 1st to the 7th, so you have plenty of time! I plan on watching the 4th fireworks on the 7th!

I'm going over on the second. Disney was really smart to do it this way for once to help with the crowds.

You will find it crazy crowded on both days. The fireworks are extra spectacular for the 4th holiday. I would go to the Polynesian and watch. If you go early in the morning.....before the gates open, be one of the first to arrive you can get in a few hours of rides then go back to your hotel and swim then go back that evening and watch the fireworks. By the time 11:30 rolls around it will be wall to wall people. Been there!!! Done IT!!!!

Ok we left before the fireworks yesterday, DH almost had a nervous breakdown with the crowds
Planning on seeing them from outside on Saturday
Any good resort restaurant to try to ave dinner right before the MK fireworks?
Anyone know if they are also at 9 pm Saturday ?
