Much like any other hotel:

Sheets are probably changed every 2-3 days. Comforters probably after departure.

There is no way any hotel washes comforters or bedspreads after each guest stay!

I'll bet the pillows are even dirtier. Do you think those ever get cleaned?

I don't know if I will get an answer, but I am going to ask Shades. I am just curious but I am sure Shades is up to whatever the Disney standards are. I never really think much about it since I don't sleep on or use the spreads and I bring my own pillow.

We take our own pillows, last time at SOG, my hubby was glad I insisted on our own. Their pillows were just not comfy.
Curious to see what they give you for an answer to washing the comforter. We usually take it off for the week.

Advice from those who bounce between SoG and Dis Resorts..

We are planning a trip next fall, and I am just simply torn between going SoG and POR. We've worked out the cost (figuring in parking since we'll have our own vehicle) and it literally is a matter of dollars between doing POR w/DDP (hoping for the military discount they usually offer) and SoG w/OOP dining.

We have stayed at both SoG and POR and each has their pros and cons. We will have a one year old and 7 year old, so walking to the monorail might be worth it from Shades... but I'm also thinking that since we'll have our own vehicle, it's a moot point. LOVE the pool and food at POR, but often felt like it takes forever to get places.

AHHH -- I can't decide! Any help appreciated!!!

We've stayed at both, and for us it's a no-brainer. Shades wins every time!! You can't beat the location or the size of the rooms. If you're going to have a stroller and pack n play for the little one, it's a tight squeeze in the POR rooms. The SoG rooms are almost twice as big! And we like the food options at the Poly and monorail access.

Military discount WDW tickets for veterans at SoG?

Hello - my husband is an honorably discharged veteran, so I know we can only stay at Shades of Green in either September or October. What isn't clear is if we can or cannot purchase military discount WDW park tickets through the resort...can anyone help?? Thanks!

We stay at Shades every trip, but also spend a few nights at a Disney resort. One year, we stayed at POFQ for the whole week. We loved the resort, but decided that we wouldn't be staying at a moderate again for a whole week without a car. Having to take a bus everywhere was a drag, especially because my DD was 2 at the time and we had our stroller. For me, the convenience of walking to the Poly or TTC for the monorail to MK and EP are what pushes Shades over the top. With little ones, time is money, so the time NOT spent on the bus is worth it! It's also nice to keep some money in my wallet...staying at a Disney resort always makes me feel like I'm hemorrhaging cash!

I do like the size of the SoG rooms, but the food options were underwhelming for us when we were there - our DD ate free at the buffet, so that helped but I was just 'eh' overall. That's one of the appeals of POR to us since they have the great dining area and DH could run and grab some food and bring it back to the room during our midday break.

I agree about the busses, which is one reason we are opting to drive down so we will have our own car, and (honestly) I was really not thrilled with the SoG bus service while we were there. It was great to get to MK and EPCOT since we could walk to Poly, but we had some issues with AK and had a bus 'skip' us at HS.

I guess I feel like I'm torn between the nicer pools/food and the proximity to the monorail. I know that whichever way we go, we'll have a great trip, I just wish I could dramatically tip the scales and make the decision more obvious! I've actually contemplated doing a split stay between the two, but DH wants either DDP or OOP, not trying to muddy the waters with both.

I do appreciate the input and am going to have to weight the pros and cons and the points you list carefully!!!

Hello Jane! Thank you for your continuous support. Every time a guest checks out of a room, we change out the comforters/ bedspreads with clean comforters/bedspreads. All of our pillows have pillow protectors on them and we change out the pillow cases when guests check out. Thank you again for your support.

Specific Room Request at SOG

Hello,
We are looking forward to a 10 day stay at SOG in a couple weeks. I really want to make sure we stay in the section of the hotel where the parking garage is...preferably top floor. Is it possible to request that? Oh, and I do NOT want a room with the balcony where the cement pillars are - because it is a solid wall -rather than open. For those that have had that style, they know what I'm talking about. For a night or two, ok...not for 10!

Thanks so much for any suggestions,
denise

A little off topic here, but I am a little steamed about all the negative press and comments about the Lone Ranger. I thought it was a really good, fun movie ... and so did everyone else in the theater. What is up with all the negativity?

I see that they are making good progress on the new pool at SOG and I can't wait to see it in December! Any thoughts as to when they will start the rehab on the Mickey Pool?

Thank you so much for emailing SOG! I am very excited to know that they change the comforters out after each guest!!! Another plus to staying at SOG!!

Yes, you can most definitely make a room request, especially for a longer stay. We do every time. It is not 100% guaranteed, but we have never had an issue. I usually call a couple weeks before arrival and they add it to our reservation.
