Good morning!

Back from vacation and of course, I am way behind on all my favorite threads. Thanks to all who faithfully answered questions and kept the thread off page two

I'll be back to multi-quote later, but had to post that 6 weeks from today we'll be pulling up to our favorite Lodge, (in the front of course, not the back, unless I arrive via Sea Raycer, which would be odd since we're not doing a split stay this time).

Welcome home!
Thanks for the kind comment and welcome, Dave and welcome back to the thread to you, too! I have to ask how you would know the luggage won't fit. Maybe I could pull the luggage in its own Sea Raycer? Well, no worries this trip since we'll make our approach on dry land.

I just posted this comment to the Resort Changers' thread (befitting, I know) and thought it would be appropriate here, too:

We're very lucky that if available, we could stay at any CL, but we keep going back to OFC because overall, it's the best WDW CL and the best value, IMHO. We also love the theming, location, amenities such as the gym and the transportation, (and of course, the CMs!). Our BLV Tower room without CL was the same price as the WL-CL room we switched to. While the room is smaller, the lounge area is larger and we end up spending a lot of time in the lounge area. It's a great place to leave DH when he needs to, umm, rest

My DH and I did a little resort exploring when we were there in February. While exploring the fourth floor we looked up and there on the club level floor was a gentleman with his newspaper and cup of coffee, with a great view of the atrium, looking like he was settled in for the next few hours. It looked like something out of a mountain resort, not the middle of WDW. What a great location for club level. I can see your DH sitting there, too.

Back from the Lodge!

We returned from our trip late Monday night and just wanted to post a quick report (I definitely did not take enough pics of the Lodge or our food... spent most of the time chasing after our 2.5 year old!)

The 1 br villa was great and I'm glad we reserved it. There was plenty of space for our son to set up toys and just relax. He did get homesick for his toys, and downtime in the hotel usually ended with him asking to go home, but as soon as he was out (or busy with something we bought him at the shop) he was just fine. On our last day I told him we were going home and he said "no home!"

Mousekeeping forgot to come for 2 days, but we were find without it and just requested a few towels. Maybe they got us confused with DVC members?

Our son loved all the train decor in the Villa lobby. He calls WL the "train hotel" now. He also just loved riding the boats!

Meals were just okay in terms of food, but we didn't go to all our usual places. The worst was probably Tony's Town Sq and the best was Coral Reef. We didn't get to try WCC, but we will next time. DS LOVED the character meals, so next time we will do more of them as well.

Lodge staff was as friendly as could be, and we already miss it! We're planning our next trip when this baby brother (who won't be born until Sept) is about to turn three... June, 2016! DS wants to stay in the "train hotel" again, but DH thinks he'd also like a few days at the Beach Club pools, so we're thinking about a split stay 3 BCV and 4 VWL or WL club level (although the packing up part just sounds awful to me!).

Thanks to everyone for all the help in planning this trip... can't wait for our next one!

Thanks for your review......glad you had a nice trip. That is too cute about the "train hotel" and your little guy not wanting to go home at the end of the trip .

Thanks for the trip report. I'm so glad to hear that your trip went well. I love the extra space in a villa.

We also had a great meal at Coral Reef. My daughter plans to go there again with her kids.

Have you officially changed yet? It's also very easy to go over to the CR to eat at the CC, Wave or CM via the Blue Flag boat or monorail right over to Poly or GF for a meal or snack.

2. How can I get from WL to Fantasia Gardens using Disney transportation? How long of a trip is it?

Thanks!
I hope you'll be able to check-in with us when you're on vacation

To get to FANTASIA GARDENS, buses are available at any park or from Downtown Disney, but only by boarding the bus to the Swan/Dolphin (or any BoardWalk area resort). From there, you can take the walkway from the Swan/Dolphin right to Fantasia Gardens.

Only a guess here, but Disney uses booking codes for room types and packages. Perhaps your booking code may be for your MYWD package

Well, we have to postpone this summer's trip as well. Luckily it is not my back this time. It is actually for a good reason- my DD is in the process of getting a teaching job and she has one last class to take and it conflicts with our dates. We can't go later either because she would need to be back here for a week-long training for new hires. So, I am thrilled for her, but sadly have to delay our first time in a villa. WDWKook- please remove me from the lodgers log for this August. You can put August 2014, since that is our plan! That way I can still see a trip in our future. My husband sees it as an opportunity for my back and my endurance for walking to be that much stronger than it is now. I intend to keep checking in here and surrounding myself with love for the WL! Please keep posting pictures and mini-trip reports so I can live vicariously until it is our turn.
Oh, no I'm sorry you had to cancel, but I'm happy it's not because of your back. I will change you to 2014, but reluctantly. This may be a blessing in disguise though and your DH may be right that this will allow you to get stronger. Don't be a stranger here, OK?

What kind of view do you get in these club level rooms. Are there pictures anywhere out there??? I think I sold him on the club level beer/wine/bfast/snacks LOL
CL speaks for itself and your DH won't think one week is too long at the OFC. There are two possible CL views:

~Woods overlook VWL in the South Wing. In the North Wing you can see some of the Otter Pond, CR, Wishes and/or the Castle from some rooms.

~Courtyard rooms over look either the WL or the VWL Courtyard. This is a view of the EWP, geyser, pool and Bay Lake. South Wing rooms look toward the dock and North Wing rooms look toward FW and the marina in the distance.

So anyway, the room is nice. There are 2 deer right outside our balcony right now eating. We ate at Whispering Canyon for lunch today. It was okay, but we won't eat there again.

That's so funny that you mention that. I think it was during our first stay at WL back in 1997 that DH recalls looking up to the 7th floor and wondering who those lucky people were who were eating and drinking and looking so comfy and content in their chairs. The view down is amazing and the view out to Bay Lake and the Courtyard. If you've never tried the OFC, I highly recommend it (with a discount).

We just returned from 9 nights at Riverside which is where we have stayed the past 4 trips. We are seriously considering staying at the Lodge for Christmas in 2014.
The weather is so hot and humid in June that I am ready for something different and what could be than better Christmas time at the Lodge!!!
Now I am trying to learn all I can because this would be our first time staying at the beautiful Wilderness Lodge. Can't wait for 2014 dates and rates to be released.
Looks like I might need to brace myself for "sticker shock" also. The room prices look pretty expensive for the week around Christmas. Are there ever any discounts offered for that time of year?

Thanks!!
