Dining plans price has increased for 2013

I priced a WDW package a few weeks ago with my TA and wasn't ready to book as I had to confirm dates with work. I asked her for another quote this morning and it was higher priced.
The original price was after the ticket price increase so I know that is not it

Everything was the same, dates, resort, park tickets, type of dining plan, etc. She told me that Disney increased the prices of the dining plans over the weekend

I have worked with this TA for years and I know she wouldn't steer me wrong but I had never heard of Disney doing this in the past where the price went up middle of the year. So I priced it myself online because I was curious and yes it has gone up since I last priced it

We were looking at November 13-19, 2013, 2 adults Polynesian standard view - 7 day park hopper tickets

If I price it without a dining plan the total is $3923.20
With the dining plan the total comes to $4627.12

This makes the dining plan $58.66 per person, per night of our stay

Looking at various websites and the price of the dining plan my TA quoted me the first time it seems that the dining plan cost then was $55.59 per night per person

Has this ever happened before? I know the tickets have gone up in price in the middle of the year but normally the dining plan doesn't increase until the following years prices are released.

Ticket prices just did go up, so I would think that would be the reason for the difference. maybe there is some confusion.

nope that is not it - If you look at the numbers I posted they are as of today so it includes the new prices it still makes the dining plan cost higher than what it was previously when breaking it down

I saw this the other day and did the math out, and they are indeed showing higher via the online web app now than they were before. Whether or not this is correct is yet to be seen.

As far as happening before, not that I'm aware of. They usually increase when the next year's packages are released.

I ran a series of tests that compared the post ticket prices with the post dining plan prices, hence the ticket increase was canceled out. The numbers for DDP were the same as the OP is reporting.

Testing info - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3128798

---
The strange thing about the numbers is that there is no seasonal upcharge. This is the key thing that makes me question the numbers themselves. Coupled with the fact that over the past few years, phone CMs have given out incorrect information on dining plan pricing starting roughly this time of year, makes me think there's an issue within the system that's now exposing those incorrect numbers to the public instead of just to the CMs. Of course, they really could have stealth raised the prices for this year... but it seems extra shady to do so.

It's probably the Holiday surcharge for the DDP. It goes up certain times of year when crowd levels are high.

New!As of 6/19/13, it appears the additional cost (on top of a regular Magic Your Way package) has gone up for all newly booked, full-price packages for the rest of 2013: new add-on cost is $58.66 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $18.88 per night for children (ages 3-9).
ETA) This is for the regular DDP (one CS, one TS, one snack). The rest of the updated prices can be found on Mousesavers.

Yikes!

My off-site OOP is looking better and better. And I was planning on the peak/holiday season...

I sure hope they aren't taking away more benefits for all who sign up for the DDP. And I love the DDP--I like the deluxe best.

Where are you finding it there. I see an update for 6/19, but no mention of dining going up.

And if you go halfway down this page you can click the links to the other dining plans and see the increases.

It happens every year when Disney increases prices. The price increase was on June 2nd and was announced the week before on these boards. All of the FL parks increase prices mid calendar year. It used to be in August until a few years ago. Disney has increased prices first week of June the last few years. US/IOA went up about a month before Disney and SeaWorld a couple of weeks before.

Also can't recall them increasing the price of the dining plans mid-year (wonder if they'll increase them again for the beginning of 2014).

Disney has become increasingly shameless about the pricing (and value) of the dining plans.

Maybe disney is trying to recoup some money from paying ddp customers to make up for "free dining"
