We are in the same boat with the exact same days. Based on all my research I figured we would be covered by some promo. Getting worried we will wind up paying full price for everything.

I have to balance things out so it's not too girly for DS7 too, so figured one princess ADR was about all he would handle. Definitely get on the cancellation thread... I will eventually be cancelling a Boma and Biergarten ADR - we have a couple of days in flux right now.
We are doing Akershus on 10/25, our last day at the parks, so we are going out with a bang hopefully. We also have lunch at Tusker House earlier in the week so DD can get a meal with standard characters in addition to one with the princesses. In the future we will have trips with DS (will be 4 months this year) and DD so we will have to balance things out as well but I don't think that will be a problem.

We are in the same boat - hoping something happens to help whether its FD or room discount--- but at the end of it all we are still going to Disneyworld so how bad can it be!?

Once we are on the plane I will have forgotten whether I was able to get FD or not and will just be so excited to get there!

We will be celebrated our 10th Anniversary and DH BDay the next day. We plan on doing MNSSHP and we are staying at the AllStar Music.
We are beyond eager and excited, its pretty much all we talk about.
Any opinions or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks.
I use MJ for booking. I've had nothing but good experiences using them.

Well Columbus day is the 14th this year, so since your trip ends on the 12, you might be in luck. We are going the 12 through 19, so I feel like we are out of luck. The holiday weekend happens at the beginning of our trip. Oh well, we will plan better next time.

Add us to that boat!
Thought the week would be prime for discount, not looking too promising, but thrilled to be going! On the other hand, at this point, if we do get some sort of discount it will be just that much more "magical" since we don't expect it!

Hey friends,
Need some help either explaining or understanding this free dinning plan stuff. DH is under impression it applies to anyone if offered at the same time you book and no one needs a pin. I was thinking we were all hoping for some that we would get a Pin for the offer..Am I thinking wrong? Any clarification would be most appreciated..Thanks friends

There are many times throughout the year where WDW will offer a "free" dining promotion or a room only discount to the general public - no pin required.

If you elect the "free" dining offer, you pay rack rate for your room, and you have to purchase a MYW ticket (most recently at least a 2 day MYW ticket). Also, if you stay at a value, the "free" dining plan is the QSR plan. Moderate and deluxe get the regular DDP with one TS, one QS and a snack. My understanding is you can pay the difference to upgrade your dining plan.

You should do the math to see which discount is better for you before being overwhelmed by the "free" dining hype on these boards. If you are staying in a value, the $$$ savings over paying for the dining plan, and maybe paying OOP for food, is likely to be better than a room discount. If you are staying at a moderate or deluxe, you may spend less money taking the room discount and either paying for the dining plan separately, or paying for your food OOP.

When you are running the numbers, the question to ask yourself is: What would you really eat if you didn't have the dining plan? You shouldn't calculate your savings based on what you "save" by not paying for the plan, you should calculate based on what you would really spend on food if you didn't have the plan, add that to your hotel with the discount, then figure out if paying rack rate for the room and getting "free" dining is a better deal. Don't forget the plan doesn't cover gratuities, so you have to add that in if you are doing TS meals. It may very well be less to take the room discount and pay OOP for food than what you would save taking "free" dining.

Now I know that next time I need to take the 180 days for reservations more seriously and that just over four months is not enough time.
I think you will love Akershus! It was a hidden gem for us last year. We would definitely do it again!

Thanks Stinky Pete, I think we both understand now, I was not understanding that you would pay for the rest of the dinning out of pocket. Thank you so much for your information.

Just saw that Peter Pan is going to be closed all of October for refurbishment. Our last day is Oct 30, maybe it'll open back up early.
