Honeymoon Dec 2014 Dream, questions

December 12th, 2014
3-night Bahamian Cruise on Dream

For our honeymoon we will first spend some time at WDW than head to the cruise. We are mid 20’s with no kids. Also this will be our very first cruise.

Besides the cruise fare how much do you typically spend or budget for your cruise including tips, excursions, drinks etc.?

We’re not sure we want to dine at Palo only not to miss a chance to see the dining rooms, however is it possible to maybe have drinks or dessert there? Or is it really a must try?

Since we’ve never been to Nassau we plan on getting off the ship to explore for a couple of hours. Atlantis seems pretty neat, do a lot of Disney cruisers go and is there a shuttle or do you take a cab? What other fun things have you found?

For Castaway Cay we may want to do the stingray interaction, Any other suggestions?

Also since our wedding registry is actually for our cruise we would like our wedding thank you cards to be post cards sent from the island, Do you know how much a postcard typically is and can I buy postage before hand or do it right there?

I can't answer all your questions, but I can a few. Atlantis is ok, not really worth the money for the water park. The day we were there, there were 4 ships in port plus all the people staying at Atlantis, so it was very crowded. We would have been better off staying on the ship or doing a beach excursion. There is a casino, but to me, if you've been to Vegas, you know that all casinos start to look the same.

We sent postcards from CC, bought the cards on the island, sent them from their little post office. The post has funny hours, they weren't open when we went ashore. I think stamps were about 75 cents each, we still have some on our fridge-- got too many. We sent one post card to my sister in AZ and she got it 3 weeks after the day we were at CC. The post office is close to the dock, so look for it as you get off the ship. Buy cards on the way to the beach, write them while you relax on a chair, then stop back on you way on board. Don't forget to bring a pen with you to the beach!

We went parasailing at CC, it was A-MAZ-ING. Best thing we did the whole 8 night cruise. I would do it again in a second. We also rented bikes and rode around, was fun but hot.

Happy Honeymooning!!

First off congratulations! I guess it really depends on what you want to do. We also had our honeymoon on the Dream. We did a 4 night. We probably spent around $500 more on the cruise although some of the expenses where covered from our registry. We did a couples massage which I would whole heartedly recommend. We booked it in the late afternoon so when we were finished they gave us a few minutes to get ourselves together and we had a breathtaking view of a sunset. Very romantic! We did the water park at Atlantis. It was pricey and although we enjoyed it idk if we would do it again. We didn't try Palo because we too didn't want to miss the other dining rooms. I have heard you can do brunch at Palo's.(correct me if I'm wrong). We also spent a lot of time in the adults only pool hogging one of those chairs for 2 and having yummy drinks. I'm not sure if you have the Disney wedding registry. you can use that to calculate which excursions or activities you want and then bring some extra for shopping or other things that may come up.

As for CC relaxing on Serenity Bay was heaven for me. Laying on the hammock. There's lots to do there. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Either way enjoy your honeymoon. It will definitely be magical. Btw don't forget your Just Married Pins!

Just checked and stamps were 70cents. That was July 2012. Maybe the same now?

Thank you CTdaizy, we actually live in Las Vegas so I can get the whole Casino bit, it looks like a more grand Mandalay Bay. Thank you for the stamp information, do you know hom much a post card is or do they come in those books like at DL or WDW?

Thank you MrsB919, and congratulations to you as well, your Anniversary cruise should be fun. We’ve never had a massage so this seems nice, would you suggest on board or at CC? Yup we have the Disney Honeymoon Registry up and running, we’re also having a DL wedding.

On a side note we will definitely be carrying on some beer & wine for our room with the verandah

I forgot to ask,

What should we wear for Pirate night, and do a lot of adults dress up too?

What do you think of the adult clubs and lounges on board, something to try or spend the night on our verandah with our own alcohol?

-Thank you again for this information

Thanks! We were married at WDW. For the massage that would be a personal choice. I luv the beach and so I wanted to enjoy being on the beach and in the water so we decided to do the one on board. We are also going to book another couples massage on board for our anniversary cruise. As for pirate night yes we saw a lot of people dress up although we saw mostly families. Dh and I didn't. Although I did tie the bandana they give you in my hair.. We did go to the lounges one night and we found them kinda cheesy idk maybe it was bc they were kinda empty. I would personally prefer hanging out on your own verandah and having your own romantic night especially since you guys are doing the 3 night cruise. Maybe order up some yummy desserts or something from room service. HTH!

I agree, it was mostly families dressed for pirate night. We had fun watching everyone else, and also wore our bandanas. On pirate night, you much head up to the top decks to watch the fireworks, it was pretty special knowing we were at sea watching fireworks!

Postcards at CC - I don't remember how much they were specifically, but knowing Disney I'm sure they were at least a dollar each. And you are going to have to take the time out of CC to write them out. Maybe look at WDW for some to work on before you sail? Our day at CC didn't seem long enough.. We were in the last 75 people to board at the end of the day, didn't want to leave.

Good Luck and Best Wishes

oww great ideas, yah the videos for the clubs seem a bit cheesy. You're right, maybe I'll find some at WDW or even on the ship to pre write everything before we get to CC. Does it get chilly while at sea?

I think you said your going in December so it might be. When we went in Sept. it was perfect. Maybe someone who has sailed in December might be better able to help you. Good luck.
