BOG for lunch- How much does the time matter?

Hi everyone,

Wondering how much it matters what time I line up for lunch at BOG. I want to make sure we go there, but at the same time I know how precious the first few park hours are for touring. I was thinking that we'd go on our Extra Magic Hour morning (June 20) around 11am when it opens (lining up around 10:45 ish). I have a plan in place and should be able to accomplish all of New Fantasyland and some other rides before that time. Does anyone know if going early is better in terms of the wait time to get in?

Thanks! Leaving Tuesday!

When we were there in February, a very busy time and we got on line at 10:30am we got in by 11:15am. The wait was not bad at all. Plus we were served very quickly. We enjoyed our lunch.

How long was the line when you got in it? I've heard that the line looks insane but that it moves quickly.

We ate lunch there recently - 6/3. We got in line at 10:50. We were ordering by 11:10. I would say around 5 minutes to get our drinks and get seated and another five before our food arrived.

The wait was not bad at all. They were passing out menus, but some people decided to not decide until they were ordering.

I also noticed some people were having difficulties using the touch screen to place their orders.

It was my favorite counter service meal of our trip! The restaurant is beautiful, and I thought the food was excellent!!

It is worth the wait!!!

We went last week and lined up at 11. Took about an hour to get in. A few days later I was walking by at 2 pm and there was only 1/3 the line I had been in days before. I think something could be said for eating later.

In December the CM wouldn't allow anyone else in line after 1pm...so that may be why the line was so short. No amount of pleading as it was 1:05 would sway her... Got there by 12:30 the next day!

I would either go early or go late. Going at lunch rush time (11-1-ish) is probably a bad idea.

I read on either a BOG info site or here (it was on my phone and I only read the google preview text) that they closed the lunch line at 2:30. We got there at 2:10 (in May) and were able to get in line, no problem. We waited ~20 minutes from the start of the line until we had ordered (and our food came out within 5 minutes of sitting). I'm not sure they shut it down at precisely 2:30, but judging by when the crowds started thinning out, I'm guessing it was pretty accurate.

I was in the MK on Thursday. I got on a long line for BOG around 11:15 and was told the wait was 2 1/2 hrs. I decided it was to long so I left and went into Mickey Philarmagic. When I got out I went back to the BOG. The line was a bit shorter and was told it would be 45 minutes. I got into the restaurant in about 30 minutes. Service was quick and the food good. You never know how its going to go.
I will add that it was a hot, sunny day and they were handing out umbrellas (which we gave back at the entrance)and water to those of us on line. I thought that was very nice of them.

We ate lunch there on Friday, 6/14. The line moved very fast, almost non stop until 11:15. We got in line after that. It moved a little slower but we moved inside and ordered in about 30 min.

Josh (of easywdw.com) has a post today that includes lunch at BOG. He was there this past Thursday, with crazy -- like 180 minutes for Space Mountain -- crowds. It only took him 5 minutes to get into BOG at 1:00, and he said that the line was around 10 minutes at 2:00 when he finished. His recommendation is to go later in the day, because the lines are shorter and you're not spending valuable morning touring time waiting in line.

We will be there this Friday. We were planning to get in line around 1. Should we plan to go earlier?

There were early reports during the first couple of months after it opened that the line closed early, but that seems to no longer be the case. In addition to the EasyWDW report above, I was able to get in line last month with my husband after 2pm and there was literally no sign of them cutting it off yet.

Glad to hear they are passing out umbrella's when we were there in December...not hot weather, but sunny, it was pretty brutal standing in the sun for 30 minutes...beautiful theming, but NO SHADE!
