I'm thinking they will steer you toward a bigger cake.

There will be 10 in our party which size cake?
Yes, Epcot's bakery does fancy cakes now. For 10 people, an 8-inch is plenty.

I'd do a mini cake so you don't have to haul leftovers all over the park or get a locker.

Well I suppose if there are leftovers we'll be okay since we're leaving the park right after dinner. It's a MNSSHP night and we won't be attending the party until a week or so later.

I called Boma today to order the Mickey Mouse cake for $48.
They asked if I wanted buttercream in between the layers.
I stated that it was supposed to come with a chocolate mousse filling.
The CM told me they would probably charge extra for that.
Am I wrong? I thought the cake came with the choc. mousse filling and was frosted with a chocolate ganache.

I think they still steer you toward a larger cake too. For the detailing to really take effect, you will want a larger cake. Maybe 6 or even 8 inch. You'll have leftovers but you can finish the cake off during your trip.

I wanted to share a general thought on what I was thinking in terms of cake design, then maybe people can advise on what size of cake would work best.
  • I'm imagining a two layer cake obviously.
  • Each layer would be frosted or done in fondant to look like a leg of Vanellope's tights.
  • At the top of the cake, either molded or printed onto white chocolate would be the "You're My Hero" heart.
  • At the bottom would be a Vanellope and Ralph printed on white chocolate.

Is that feasible for a mini cake, or should I go with bigger tiers?

They shouldn't charge extra for that - it's a standard filling flavor. The CM probably just isn't aware of that.

You are right.
The CM called me back today and we're all set for July 18th.
We're celebrating 2 birthdays that day.
Christopher turns 13 and Andy turns 30.
Let the celebrations begin!!

JUST 1 month until we're there!!

Is this still what I should expect if I order the slipper? Thanks!
This is what I received at CRT after my SO proposed (and for the record, it was sooo good!):

Does anyone know if they still do the little treasure chest cakes? We're going to be eating at Tony's Town Square in a couple of weeks. If not what are the options at Tony's? Just a podium cake? Or can I order something small ahead of time? I'm not getting anything fancy just something fun for the kids.

Hi everyone! Just a quick question.....I've been trying to connect with Pat from the Grand Floridian about ordering custom cake for my July trip but no luck. I've left two messages and haven't heard back. Should I call again or wait awhile? Thanks!

Unfortunately, the treasure chest cakes have been discontinued. You can either order a podium cake when you get there or call Private Dining at the Contemporary to order one of the standard custom cakes or a fancy cake (see Post #2 for options).

Thanks lurkyloo! Those treasure chest cakes were really cute too. I'll look at the post about ordering one ahead of time so I can be sure we get one.

I would like to find out some info about ordering a cake. I read the beginning of the thread and noticed that they do the special princess package at CRT. That's fine, but honestly a bit young for me. And besides, I already have my own tiara that I was planning to wear.

Here are my questions:

1. Since we'll be dining in the MK, we would call private dining at the Contemporary, yes?

2. As there will only be three of us, I was thinking about ordering a mini-cake. Any recommendations on sizes?

3. I know they can generally do themeing requests, but do you think they might be able to do something themed like Wreck-it-Ralph/Vanellope von Schweetz? I wouldn't really want a cake shaped like Vanellope, but maybe some theming based off that would be cool. I would love if it somehow incorporated Vanellope's medal that she gives Ralph. DH and I really like Wreck-it-Ralph and will be going as Ralph and Vanellope to MNSSHP!

Any thoughts, suggestions, comments would be helpful. I'm looking forward to this quite a lot!
I got tickled by this, because I plan on wearing my birthday button and tiara too, and I'm 50-ish I plan on ordering this for my birthday....hopefully they'll be able to do it! I want the to put on a plate with "Happy Birthday Kelly" on it.
