Kids Sale Free

Does anyone know how often DCL runs their "Kids Sail Free" sales? I know I've seen them in the past. We'd love to book a DCL cruise, but with 3 kids a sale of this type would definitely help.

Thanks!

These are usually on cruises that aren't selling well, so no way to really know which ones they will be. I've read that they aren't being offered as often since DCL started their last-minute restricted fare rates.

This is fairly new. AFAIK last set was in Jan-Mar but only from TX and MIA. Reason being those cruises were not selling well. Dream and Fantasy were selling much better and hence no offers for KSF on those. Also, these were added when even *GT rates weren't enough to sell these ships.

Once DCL moves out of TX, I would expect anything like this only out of MIA. And then again, only during slow seasons.

The KSF deals have been around since 2009 at least. We booked one for January 2010, then again in 2011. They use to be used to fill the ships, but the *GT rates seem to be doing that quite well lately. The benefit of the *GT rates is that they aren't restricted to just people with kids.

I have to say, for me, with 3 children as well, kid's sail free is rarely our best bet. The new ships accomodate 5, so this may change what I have to say a little. But on the classic ships, the only rooms that accomodate 5 are the deluxe family verandahs. Because those rooms are usually VERY expensive for the first two cruisers, even if the kids are free, it is still very costly. And, if you get two of the interior rooms, 2 of the children will NOT be free because they are the second passengers in the room. So basically, you wind up only getting one kid for free. It really isn't a huge sale for a family of 5.
