In 2009 and 2011 we used the DDP. IN 2009 we had a good room discount and paid for the DDP. In 2011 it was "free." It worked for us then. It won't anymore.

In 2009 my kids were Disney kids. We did tons of character meals. XH was a big eater. I was a bigger eater then too. We liked having it prepaid.

In 2011 with it being free we took it especially since DS was now a Disney adult. We didn't do as many character meals. My kids started getting irritated with having to leave the parks for meals. I noticed by the end of the trip we weren't as hungry and we could have easily split meals. Plenty of times I just wanted an appetizer but was forced to get an entree. I rarely if ever ordered soda. I hated having the dessert and often times just got a water instead.

Next time we won't do it. DS is a Disney adult. I'd rather have the room discount. DF is a big eater but he has to be in the mood so if we have a TS and he isn't hungry he won't really eat much. I want to order what I want to order. I'd rather just split meals at CS. If we want to cancer ADR's we can without losing credits.

I'm almost positive we will save money this way.

We don't do the DDP. At CS we get 1 large soda for DH and I to share and then ice water, no desserts.

Also there are a few nights that we just want to eat around the WS. We won't be able to make too many ADR's or we will do mostly breakfast or lunch ADR's which are cheaper. So the DDP wouldn't be cost effective for us.
