I was just curious-- do you think they'll be adding more restaurants to the Poly resort area? Ohana, Kona and Captain Cooks already seem quite busy.

thanks!

I am wondering what is to become of SOA since the one DVC building is suppose to be located where the dinner show is now?

From my understanding they are still going to have the dinner show, just a different location. From looking at the map I don't see where they would have room for it!

We both have kids but we're not bringing them for this trip (we're doing a week in a family suite in the fall with them).

Thanks!!
I'm not sure if you are looking for a "one-bedroom" or a regular room with a king bed instead of two queens. If it's the king bed regular room, some of the newly refurbished rooms are supposed to have been changed into King Bed rooms. If I recall Tikiman's website post correctly, they were in Samoa and Rarotonga. Enjoy your trip! Love taking first timers!

I just read tikiman s page but it isn't showing dates. Will construction be going on February 2014? Really want to stay here again but not if it is during construction.

I read (I can't remember if it was from Tikiman or not) that the speculation is the luau will be moved inside somewhere so that they won't have to deal with weather-related cancellations. I don't know if that would be in a reworked GCH or as part of one of the new DVC buildings (which seems unlikely because of the noise)

Until construction actually starts anything concerning a schedule is just speculation. Disney doesn't publish construction schedules and even Tikiman doesn't know where they would start with the construction. I think it is highly unlikely that Disney would spend the money to refurbish Tahiti and Rapa Nui if one was schedule for conversion and the other scheduled to be torn down any time in the near future. So even if construction starts in 2014 it would most likely be over toward the GF and not noticeable to the vast majority of the people staying at the Poly. Since the Poly has a very high occupancy rate I don't think Disney is going to want to take very many of the rooms out of service at once.

I don't know what the current DVC inventory is but I don't think they are going to want to adding more if there is a significant number of DVC units unsold at the existing DVC resorts (including the GF DVC units).

So I would recommend that you not make plans based on the assumption that construction is going to start around any specific dates until there is more definitive information released. You can always modify your plans if it does turn out that there would be significant construction that would interfere with your plans.

Don't forget that some people changed their reservations based on scheduled maintenance of the Volcano pool that didn't happen.

The honeymoon suite is in the Tonga longhouse and it is not a room request, you have to book that specific room. I think it pretty much stays booked so you might have to try to book it as far in advance as possible. It also helps to have a pretty substantial bank account:

Value Season
1/2-1/4, 1/8-1/12 $680 per night
1/16-2/15, 8/18-9/27 weekday $680 per night
1/16-2/15, 8/18-9/27 weekend $710 per night
7/15-8/17 weekday $690 per night
7/15-8/17 weekend $725 per night
10/20-11/18, 11/23-12/20 weekday $735 per night
10/20-11/18, 11/23-12/20 weekend $775 per night

Regular Season
9/28-10/4, 10/8-10/19 weekday $775 per night
9/28-10/4, 10/8-10/19 weekend $795 per night
2/26-3/8, 4/15-7/14 weekday $775 per night
2/26-3/8, 4/15-7/14 weekend $825 per night

Peak Season
2/16 $880 per night
2/20-2/25, 3/9-3/31 weekday $880 per night
2/20-2/25, 3/9-3/31 weekend $930 per night

Holiday Season
New Years 1/1 $960
Marathon 1/5-1/7 $735 per night
MLK 1/13-1/15 $730 per night
Presidents 2/17-2/19 $930 per night
Easter 4/1-4/14 $935 per night
Columbus Day 10/5-10/7 $805 per night
Thanksgiving 11/19-11/22 $825 per night
Holiday Season 12/21-12/31 $985 per night

This is slightly less per night than CL Lagoon View in the Hawaii longhouse.
