I am hoping he will decide to go to the younger kids' club that his 7 year old sister can go to. I'm sad that my 2 sons won't be able to be together. I wish they could go to either club but it sounds like they have to choose one or the other.

I have some Fish Extender group questions. I have read some posts about exchanges but am not clear on everything involved. How many times will we deliver gifts to those in the group? And then the deliveries are spaced out so that we will likely get gifts on each day of the cruise? So if there are 10 cabins participating and they have 35 passengers in the exchange, I would come to the cruise with 35 Fish Extender gifts and we will then deliver to 10 other cabins sometime during the cruise or are we assigned a day to deliver? And then if I want to sign up my 3 kids for the exchange, and there are 10 other cabins participating, each of my kids should get about 10 Fish Extender gifts throughout the cruise? Sorry for all the questions...this is our first cruise and it sounds like a fun thing but I just want to know what we are getting ourselves into before signing up.
When my daughter had the choice, she chose the tween club and LOVED it (just so you are prepared ).

Fish Extender - let's see if I can make this clear as mud
  • You deliver gifts only once (unless you just want to do more, but all you are "contracted" to do is one time)
  • Each person delivers when they want so yes, they are spaced out fairly often. The last day may not have much (in my experience) as people try to get stuff out before then so that they can pack up.
  • Some people do a gift or gift set per room. Others do per person. This would be entirely up to each person. So if 10 rooms sign up, you may only bring 10 gifts. Or you may one gift for the adults to share and one for each child, or one per person, or any other idea you want. All you should do is at least one per room.
  • Your kids may or may not get 10 gifts each. Some people give per cabin so it would just depend on the gifter.

I don't know if there's a trend in what they choose, but they do have to commit to one or the other. They can't go back and forth.

We are in!

So we are booked on this New Years Eve cruise out if Galveston!!

My family is really looking forward to it! We'd also love to be added to the Fish Extender participant list.

It will be myself (TexasGirl).
And my 2 kids. My beautiful daughter will be 14 and in 8th grade. My adorable son will be 8 and in 3rd grader.

We've been on several Disney cruises through the years although this will be the first one as a single Mom.

Looking forward to making some family memories.

Welcome!!!

Can't believe you've been on 10 cruises. We are heading that way though. Our first was in 2010. This will be our 5th (we're doing the one right before this one for our 4th) and we have one booked for Spring Break 2014 and NYE 2014/2015 so that will put us at 7.

Also a single mom and love traveling with my daughter. :-)

Updated 1st post to add TexasGirl.

We're up to 16 cruisers and 8 FE participant rooms!

We're growing slowly but surely.

Hi all. While this will be our 4th Disney cruise, we have never done a fish extender, because we never knew you could do a cabin/family gift and it started to look like a very expensive undertaking before (on our Disney Fantasy cruise last january, there were about 20 families and around 80 individual gifts!) So my question is what are some typical gifts? What is an average price range?
Oh yeah, how are gifts delivered?

My BIL was able to get off work and has been officially added to the cruise! My sister added him to her cabin that was originally booked for her and my other sister. My other sister now plans to sleep in our second cabin that my 2 boys will sleep in. It seems that their agent and people on the Disboards say we don't have to officially move my sister into our second cabin since Disney doesn't care where people actually sleep. We can just assign keys accordingly once we are on the cruise. Still on the fence about FE exchange. Out of our 3 cabins, I am thinking that we will probably add only 1 cabin (for my 3 kids) to the exchange. When do we need to give a definite answer?

Hi everyone! We booked this cruise back in February but were not sure if we were going to keep it or not but have made the decision to stick with our plan Look forward to getting to know everyone.

It's just DH & I. This will be our 8th Disney cruise - I've managed to squeeze in a few while DCL has been in Galveston. Thankfully DH is going along with it. (Which is why I thought he might make me ditch this particular one )

I'm really looking forward to celebrating NY on a cruise ship

No problem. My uncle sails from Galveston a few times a year and always parks there. I'm doing a B2B and reserved my parking spot tonight!

We are booked there for our Sept cruise but we've not used them before. I'm envious of your B2B - that's going to be so much fun to wave goodbye to everyone else leaving the ship and get to stay.

It is totally up to you. Nothing is too much or too little. There's some great threads in the main Disboards about FE. Pretty overwhelmed with work and school right now, but if you remind me in a couple weeks, I'll gather them and post the links.

To deliver, you hang a "fish extender" outside your door and everyone just walks around and puts them in the little hanger.
