We are traveling to our first Disney trip for my daughters cheer competition later this week.. we purchased our tickets and hopper passes through the venue so we cannot get the dining plan.. are there affordable places to eat not on the plan with three teens?

I wouldn't be too concerned about not having the DDP. It's not necessarily the most affordable way to go. Most quick service locations are pretty similarly priced. As for table service The Plaza in MK is very reasonable.

Stick to counter services or food courts for the mostpart, they are affordable, most meals are under $12, check out Earl of Sandwich in DTD, most menu items are under $5.99. Some meals may be large enough to share, just depends on what you order and how much you all eat. Pecos Bills has pretty good food, burgers and wraps, and a toppings bar, where you can add sauteed mushrooms, onions, and other fixings.

There are plenty of quick service restaurants to choose from.

You can find pretty much all menus online. Don't worry about restaurants being on or off the plan, it is debatable on if the plan is even a savings these days. lol By checking out menus of quick serve as well as table service, you should find places that will work for the way you like to eat. (For some that is split meals, appetizers, or lower cost restaurants, there are many choices) the good thing about teens is they are usually flexible when it comes to food : )

Have fun!

Disney restaurants, in general, are known to be overpriced and expensive.
Check out the menus here on the DIS and on allears.net. They have them for all restaurants, both CS (counter service) and TS (Table Service). This will help you budget and plan
Have Fun

Check out Ricki's hidden Mickey!

We visit fairly often and have never used the DDP. Like others have suggested, spend a little time looking over the online menus so you have some specific restaurants in mind.

Have fun and enjoy!

Earl of Sandwich in DTD

Plaza at MK

Trail's End Buffet at Fort Wilderness Campground (take boat from MK)

Many yummy Counter Service at Epcot, or if you want Table Service compare lunch prices to Dinner.

50's Primetime Cafe in DHS

We like the Fountain at the Dolphin which is a boat ride away from DHS

At Ak we eat counter service and share the ribs a Flame Tree BBQ.

We actually share CS meals quite a bit.
