Any Pin Trading Tips?

I'm thinking of having my next major disneyland thing to be pin trading. However, I have never done it!

What is pin trading exactly? How do you do it?

Any tips to get started? Any tips once you are started?

Thanks!

It is so fun! We started with the kids and then my husband and I enjoyed trading last year.
You can trade a max of two pins per CM as long as they don't have the pins you are trading, you pick which ones you want to give as well as trade for, blue pin bags are for kids to trade only

There are different opinions as to where to buy pins. I looked at the pins I traded for last trip and most if not all look like scrapers. However, we trade for fun.

We love our Disney Pin collections... but I always seem to buy the ones I want to keep and haven't really done the trading. My DS's got into the trading a few years back but now we all pretty much just collect!

There are some folks who will purchase random batches of pins online at places such as ebay so that they have a bunch to trade away. But as always with ebay, check the seller rating and the pins closely to make sure they are legit.

Here is a great article with some good guidelines:

Well, here's the thing--if you WANT to trade, DON'T buy pins you love!
We made that mistake, and then couldn't bear to trade anything away.

As a result, we have a lovely, LARGE collection, which we enjoy immensely!

Good luck letting pins go once you've acquired them!!!

Yes! We traded away our AAA pins (five of our 6) and we usually get a set of pins on our first day at the parks to use as traders. I don't buy on-line for fear of getting scrappers. Besides, half the fun is getting and trading them at DL.
