1 Day at CA ~ Help with Planning?

Hello!

DH and I will be in Disneyland California Adventure for only 1 day.
We will be going in pretty much the middle of summer: July 22nd

It also happens to be my birthday! ^_^

We've never been to CA and I did do some research but now, I'm wondering about Fastpasses.

I'm there when the park opens ... where do I go first for FPs and standby ride?
Which Fastpasses should I get first/have the tendency to sell out first?

July 22nd is a Monday, not sure if the day of the week matters much since it's summer break.

Any opinions would be quite appreciated!
Thank you

At DCA the fastpasses that run out the quickest are for Radiator Springs Racers. Have only been once since Carsland opened and we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel so we were able to enter DCA an hour early. I got in the RSR fastpass line before general opening and got return times for the evening.

RSR fastpasses go very quickly. If you can't get one (and don't have little kids who want to ride it), just go to the single-rider line. It's much shorter than the stand-by line. This is definitely the "e-ticket" "in" ride at DCA right now. We rode RSR first thing in the morning, then TSMM.

RSR is not on the main system for FPs so get one for something else too at the same time. Also get a World of Color which is separate too. So get RSR, WoC and maybe Soaring or Grizzly if it's a hot day all at once. IMHO those two get the worst waits.

I didn't know RSR wasn't connected. Good news for the OP.

This thread does a good job of explaining dlr's fp system.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread....sr+fp+fastpass

And yes tsmm is just as popular with no fp. Ride it early or during the parade.

It is as popular and doesn't have FP. After my last trip I learned that if you're going during EMH hit up TSMM first, maybe twice even, and then get your FP for RSR.

The standby time is usually about half the time of HS. People assume the fastpasses are what makes the standby line so long at HS. Although, that is not always the case. I waited exactly 55 minutes in the standby lines the last times I rode at HS and DCA. No difference in wait but one was early in the morning, and the other was hustling over there right after the 1st showing of Fantasmic (while lines for the second show were already forming), and the Osbourne lights were lit.

That said LM at DCA usually has a 5-10 minute wait but you can get a fastpass, lol.
