What the poster said happened was Target would not let a charge that big go through, even after calling and stating she was in fact wanting to spend that much. So the supervisor at the store allowed her to pay with another form of payment and the 5% pharmacy discount automatically came off and then they applied the other 5% she would have saved if she had been allowed to use her red debit card in the form of manual coupons. A few other posters had said they also had the same thing happen and the store supervisor allowed them to use another form of payment but honored the 5% they would have received with using the red card. I wish I knew where I'd read or seen that thread? I think I just put Target card into the search area because I was looking for answers if I could pay with a gift card through a TA, before I had heard back from my TA.

My final payment won't be near that much so I am not too worried as we will be buying a couple hundred in cards here and there over the next several months. Glad you pointed out that spending limits could cause an issue. I didn't think too much of it because I knew we wouldn't have that issue.

I do this too! DH and I fill up at the same time to maximize the fuel discount. Max is 35 gallons and we usually get between 32-35. With a $250 GC, we get 1000 points that's worth $1/gallon. That equates to 12.8-15% discount. Worth the extra effort!

I paid for our upcoming cruise with Disney GC purchased with the 5% discount. I just emailed my TA 10 gc numbers as i got them. I never heard anythIng negative from her. The cruise has saved me $150 and in the process of purchasing $1500 more for spending on the ship and WDW. So I've saved $225+ (since I got 4 free $10 target GC during the Christmas promo)! I'm so happy about the savings!

I have been buying Disney GC at Target and redeeming them myself on the DCL website....it does take awhile (20 $50 GC take about 25 minutes) but well worth the 5% off!

This is exactly what we do! I shop at Target but not nearly as often as Kroger. For my family this is a better option to save money and since our Kroger has the gcs that you can load up to $500 on, it is easier for me to apply them to our cruise.

We get the 5% red card discount and the 5% pharmacy discount. Since we have 4 prescriptions filled a month, we get a pharmacy rewards about once a month. We then purchase $500-$600 in gift cards at a time and apply them to our account. Doesn't take much planning at all. With our OBB discount and the Target deals, we are saving about $1,000 total on our cruise, which is worth the effort to me.

That was me! Here's my thread (on the Budget Board):

The important factor was that we needed to do it all in ONE transaction because we only had one pharmacy rewards coupon! I still get giddy thinking about it...

Target...thank you!

I bought $600 worth of $50 GC's today. Saved $30. (That will pay for Palo or a souvenir for my DS.

I tried to use an "app" called snip snap that would have given me $10 off $100 or $5 off $50 but Target doesn't accept mobile coupons from that app. No big deal. I save $30. It was nothing to sit and put in 3 GC at a time. Only took me 10 minutes. So $30 for 10 minutes of my time is definitely worth it.

I'll do this 2 more times until my cruise is paid in full. THEN I will add about $400 to my onboard spending account to cover tips and misc. expenses.

I also used it to pay for my DCL transfers.

We go to the parks for 2 days post cruise so I'll use this deal to pay for my resort and food.

All together I should save about $200 TOTALLY worth my time!! That’s my park food budget for the 2 days. So in other words FREE DISNEY DINING. LMAO!

I love me a good deal!

Great!

Have the Target REd Card here.

I'll just pay for our cruise, but can I buy the Disney GC, to sort of prefund our onboard spending account?

We are taking our younger boys on a Disney cRuise in February, and the GC's would be great gifts for them, if they can use them on board.

Yes, I have read that you can call DCL and have them added to your on board account which I plan on doing. I'm also going to have my boys earn their GC before our vacation.

Great Idea!

I like the idea of them earning their spending money. I know that they both really want to do the Pirate Party.

I think I'll start a little chart and post things they can do to earn a little money for their cruise.

I am doing this with my 4 year old (she will be 5 when we go in Septermber). She was to do the BBB. So I made up a chore chart where she will earn money for each item she does and if she does them all all week long she gets extra.
