I originally wanted to book CMC because I thought we would eat there before heading to MNSSHP, but they opened later than I wanted to eat. I wanted to be on our way to the party by 4, and they are not opened for dinner by then. I am wondering if I should change it to something else. I thought about Boma (because we have never been in AKL), but JM can be a really picky eater. Then I thought about eating at Big River Grille, because the DH and I would both love to explore the Boardwalk at night. Then I thought that may be a good night to get over to DTD and eat at Ragland Road (the DH and I love Sheppard's Pie and bread pudding), which is another place I have wanted to try. Anyone have any experience with dinner at Cape May Cafe?

Our options are...
1. Keep the Cape May Cafe ADR
2. Change the ADR to Boma
3. Change the ADR to Big River Grille and explore the Boardwalk after dinner
4. Change the ADR to Ragland Road

What do y'all think I should do.
Wookie, we eaten at CMC twice and have enjoyed it. We also liked Boma but if you are concerned about JM, then don't.

I like the Ragland Road idea....my sis ate there last year and really liked it. and there is nightly entertainment as well. And this would be a great time to fit in going to DTD if you haven't already on the trip.

Magic: So so sorry to hear about what your mom is going through. Sending huge hugs.

Melissa: How nice to have some snuggle time with your DS, what a nice mommy you are to let him have some decompress time. Standardized testing is coming at the end of May here too. DD8 is a little nervous as well.

Wookie: What a snake story!! Still feel so badly for the stories coming out of West. So awful. About Boma, DH and I were loving it, but DD8 got so nauseous from all the smells, that we actually had to leave before having dessert!!

Pas: YAY!! What a good way to make everyone happy! And a discount doesn't hurt right??

Well my middle DD is 7 now!! Crazy to think back to today seven years ago. I was sitting here just giving lunch to oldest DD in her highchair (did we ever really just have one child???) and had a few cramps....little did I know my munchkin was on her way! After a short 4 hour labor that really really hurt....out she came but not breathing as she had the cord around her neck. They also had to suction her right away as she had pooped while still in my belly. It was a little scary but she was a-okay, thank god. Ah....how time flies.

Waving hi to Janet, Koh, Shelia, Miss, Linda and everyone else!

Jen

Happy 7th birthday to you DD!! I can't imagine 4 hours of painful labor. The most I had was with JM, and that was just 3 hours of what showed up as only little bumps of labor pains.

That sounds like it was scary. I'm glad everything worked out well for your DD.

Thanks y'all. The DH called between appts today and I asked him. He's afraid the music will be too loud at Ragland Road for JM (although he did like the idea), and that JM won't like the food at Boma (neither of us want a repeat of Restaurant Marrakesh with him). He said that we didn't need to book a Big River ADR just to get to the Boardwalk, since he wanted to do that anyway. He said that he had a few ideas and he would talk to me later about it.

An expansion came out in the computer game that we play (Star Wars: the Old Republic). Since it has come out, we've just been leveling our toons and not doing operations (it's where a group of people go into an area to kill it, kind of like a game within a game). Anyway our guild, got a run together last night to do an op. My DH is a tank, which means he makes the stuff focus on him, so other toons can kill it. I am a healer, which means I make sure everyone's toon doesn't die. At one point the raid leader called for a bio (bathroom break). I ran to our bathroom, so I could beat the DH to it. When I got done, I sat back at my laptop on the bed. A couple of minutes went by and the DH still hadn't come into the room, which I thought was odd. No sooner did I think that, he came walking into the room carrying a big clear glass vase. He held it out and said, "look a snake", and I started screaming. He kept holding it out (he was standing at the end of the bed) and I would scream. At one point he threatened to put it on the bed with me. I hate snakes!! Growing up, it wasn't unusual for us to go outside and see a rattlesnake on our walkway (we lived out in the country on 10 acres of land that was surrounded by rock crushers). One time in high school a big grass snake even got into our house and I saw it moving inches from my feet as I was watching tv late one night. I was so scared I ran into the kitchen and managed to jump from the floor to the top of the table in one jump. The DH told me later last night, the only reason he didn't put it on the bed was because, "Kim, you were already practically crawling up the wall behind the bed. I was afraid you would have damaged your laptop trying to get away from it if I had put it on the bed. Since we were in an op, and other people were counting on you to heal them, I didn't do it." Basically the only reason he didn't put the snake in bed with me, was he didn't want to inconvenience the guys we were playing with. By the time he finally left with the snake (he had to have been in the room at least 5 minutes) my throat hurt from screaming. I'm threatening to pay him back by making him buy Blue Man Group tickets for the night before we check into the BC.
Glad you are safe from the explosion, but if my DH had done that to me, I would have killed him with my bare hands (after I ran away and burned down the house) I HATE snakes. I used to not mind them until I was about 7 or 8 and was at my friend's house. Her mom was doing laundry, and we heard a scream. She opened the dryer and started putting clothes in, and there was a snake in there!

Long story short I should have know better than to plan mom's birthday trip so close to when DH & I were out of town last week. My mom has severe depression and severe anxiety. She has been doing very well the past few months (all things relative), and I got complacent and just didn't think it through. Well, she crashed big-time while we were away. Getting her to do anything is always very difficult, but she always rebounds and enjoys herself once she gets to where she is going. We got her all packed Friday to avoid additional stress. And then Saturday morning, before we arrived at her house to pick her up, she whipped herself into such a frenzy that she landed herself in the hospital. Since it was a weekend, she wasn't really looked at by the docs til Monday. They did all the routine tests and she was released Wednesday and is fine.

This trip was a big deal for mom and she was so excited to go: Lagoon View CL ADA room so she could enjoy Wishes from the lounge or from the room, her choice. She couldn't wait to see the progress of the new Fantasyland since her last visit. And she wanted to try a Holiday Sandwich from Earl of Sandwich that she's heard so much about.

So as for the ressie, I was in a haze Sat a.m. and rebooked just so as to not lose our money. The CM said, "I have that room open July 20." So I just took it. I wasn't thinking. I am going to need to re-visit that ressie as I don't know if it is the best time to go... duh, we are going to OKW just a few days later. And it is definitely too hot for Mom then. In hindsight, DH and I just should have changed to a non-ADA CL room and gone ourselves, as my cousin was there at the same time for F&G. But I was just too upset.

Sorry for the long spiel. I don't even know why I am putting it out here. I guess I am desperately afraid that this was her last "trip" EVER to WDW (and all of the unsaid that goes along with it) and I am just a mess.

I'm so sorry.

That reminds me of the time we took DS down to Florida to meet my Grandma when he was 4 months old. We stopped at a nature preserve and decided to take him for a walk in his stroller since it was Feb. and the weather was great for us. We get the stroller all set up, I snap his carseat in and we start walking. After we had been walking for about 15 min, DH steers me over to the side of the trail, and I can't figure out why. Then I saw the snake he was steering me away from. I grabbed the stroller from him, turned around, and took off like a bat out of hell back towards the car. He said that was the fastest he had ever seen me run. Of course I then got back to the car about 5 min before him, and didn't have the keys.

Magic: I am so sorry. What about Janet's suggestion... maybe a little later in the year when the weather cools off?

Jen: Happy Birthday to her! Please give her a big hug from us, especially from Miss M!

to all of you. Safe Travels to Candace and co.!
I_Heart: When do you leave?!

~~------------------------------~~

We're at home today. Schools were closed due to flooding. I just finished watching Hamm (Toy Story) and Stitch -- who were dressed up in Miss M's underwear -- have 10 or so sumo wrestling matches inside a hula hoop on our living room floor.

Our street is flooded and closed off starting a block from our house... and the flash flood warning is in effect until 8pm this evening. Only damage so far is a wet floor in the dining room where the water has blown in through the storm windows. Stupid gutters right above these windows got clogged yesterday afternoon from our silly tree pods. (Reminds me I need to get that useless sucker chopped down this fall. )

Days like these, I wish I owned a kayak. We've got our very own Lake Michigan down the road.

Oh Jenny, I did go to the thread. If there are misbehaving kids at a restaurant, that is a topic of conversation at our table. It is usually our boys who will say, can you believe it. Yes, my boys are 19 and 15, but they have been saying that for years. I do have a real issue with parents who let their kids run around a restaurant because they are not through with their evening. Personally, I don't see how it could still be enjoyable. We won't say anything to "you", but we sure will talk about "you".

I heard the old school district where I taught when we were in the burbs canceled because of power outages and flooding...we didn't get it quite as bad down here in central IL. Glad you only have a wet dining room floor! Have fun with the sumo matches! :-)
