Kids clubs: Magic/Wonder vs. Dream/Fantasy

I'm debating booking the Wonder out of Galveston this fall. We have been on the Dream and the kids loved the Oceaneers Club. How different is it on the classic ships? I've not been able to find many pictures to compare. Thanks!

I haven't seen the clubs on the Dream, but the actual layout is a bit different on the classic ships. Oceaneers Club and Lab are on deck 5 with the Club being on one side of the atrium and the Lab on the other. When the kids want to go from one area to the other, a CM will escort them because they must cross public areas. I believe the actual space in the club/lab areas is probably smaller. But, all the reports I read, say the activities are great.

We got off the Magic yesterday and my 9 year old LOVED it. I have nothing to compare it to but he enjoyed it. I wouldn't say it was really big but it was plenty of room.

Hi Dallas Lady! I was on your Dream cruise, and we were on the Magic this past February. The clubs are quite different, but they are still great. The Oceaneer Club on the Magic is more of one big open space, as opposed to all the small alcoves on the Dream. There is a big pirate ship and slide, as well as one room under that with computers. Because the layout is one big space, my kids seemed to participate in more of the group organized activities on the Magic.

Wow, you guys did your second cruise quickly! I'm debating crusing out of Galveston before they are gone from Texas. Were there any other noticeable differences, good or bad? I'm nervous about going from the big new ship to a small, older one.

I just got off the Magic on Tuesday and had previously sailed on the Dream twice. We booked the Magic out of Galveston because of convenience (we live in Houston). Overall the trip was great but personally, I prefer the Dream. However, that wouldn't stop me from going on the Magic (or Wonder) again (say to cruise Europe or Alaska).

The Magic is a lot smaller which makes it easier to navigate however, our ship was sold out and I could def feel it. I had never waited for an elevator before on the Dream but I did on the Magic. So much so that I just took the stairs most of the time. Parrot Cay is super tiny and I feel like the buffet selections weren't as great as Cabanas. Also the lines at the buffets were a bit long (and slow). The party on the last night was crazy busy (it probably feels more crowded because the atrium area seems to be a lot smaller). I noticed some wear and tear in our room but nothing horrible.

On the upside, the service was incredible. Everyone I met had been with the ship for at least 6+ years which I think speaks volumes. I met two CM that had been there since her first sailing! I also really enjoyed the shows during dinner - Animators Palate was my favorite and I prefer this one over the one in the Dream.

Like I mentioned, I have sailed on the Dream twice. Once for Christmas (Inaugural Christmas Cruise) and once in November. Personally, I have never had issues on the Dream. Not much waiting, not very crowded, etc. Maybe I've just been lucky and that's why some of the differences really stood out. I also prefer the layout of the Dream. I rebooked onboard......for the Dream :-) but I will be sailing the on the Magic (or is it the Wonder?) in Europe next year as well (hopefully).

I would book now that they are in Galveston and take advantage of being so close to port. Go with an open mind, you may love it! A lot of people seem to prefer the Classic ships!
