Edge Activities at CC? I want to go to SB!!

On our last cruise our kids were 7 & 9 and they went to the kids club on CC, while hubby and I went to Serenity Bay. Now kids will be 9 & 11, I'm not sure if DS11 will end up going to Edge or stay in OC/OL with sister. IF he chooses to go to Edge, what options are there for him at CC if hubby & I want to go to Serenity Bay for a couple of hours? I want to know both my kids are safe while we are there. So my questions...

1. Are there "supervised" activities for kids in Edge at CC?

Or

2. If he chooses to go to Edge while on the ship, can he also be allowed to go to Scuttles Cove for a couple of hours while DH & I go to adult beach?

TIA

If the 11-yr-old is participating in the Edge onboard, I don't think they'll be allowed at Scuttles Cove (and likely wouldn't want to anyway). Check out some Navigators for the "Tweens" activities that day - ours shows:
In Da Shade Games Pavilion
Meet at Cookies Two for Lunch
Basketball Meet on Runway
Sand Soccer at Sports Beach
Invade Teen Hideout

If your tween isn't interested in those activities, I'm not sure what else is "supervised" for that age. There is an excursion for the teens, but I think they have to 13 to do that one.

Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for the reply! So the activites listed on the Navigator, like the ones you listed above, is a CM with the kids for those activites?

I believe so, however note that these do not all occur in the same location and - unlike Scuttles Cove - the kids at Edge are allowed self-check-out on CC just like onboard. If it's important to you that your tween 1) not go in the water without you or 2) remain at a specific activity - it will be up to you to have that conversation with him/her and trust their behavior.

Edge on CC is a drop in activity so, just like on the ship, it is not monitored. With that said, my kids had a ball with the Edge activities on CC. Our day was rainy, so they didn't want to do water activities anyway. They swam with us in the morning, had lunch as soon as lunch started, then spent the whole day with the counselors doing activities and games.

The other poster is right though - if the kids wanted to leave, they could. If they were to leave and go in the water, they could. You would need some rules and guidelines.

Do the Wave phones work on CC? I'm thinking that if DD went to Edge activities, we could text each other a meeting location when we were ready to meet back up.

I've heard sometimes the wave phones work on CC, sometimes they don't. I do not have personal experience as we didn't bring ours to the island.

Thanks! He is responsible and would follow rules we put in place about not going in the water, etc. Sounds like if we decide to go to SB, just make sure it is around lunch and one other scheduled activity he is most interested. Then have a designated meet up time when are done with SB. We really just want to go over to SB for lunch and just some quiet relaxation time. We would be happy with just an hour or so.

Our wave phones did work on CC. We dropped our two DS at Scuttles Cove and quickly received a text that they wanted to be picked up.

We had no luck getting the wave phones to work on our March 9th Fantasy cruise. They are supposed to work but we couldn't get ours to work on the island, so I'd have a plan B just in case they don't work right.

My son has not liked the activities on CC but he has always spent the entire day with the Tweens then the Teens. He always have found kids to do things with. Of course I do not know what they do, all I get is "Nothing", "Hanging out"....

Your 11 year old could choose to be registered for both the Oceaneers Club and Lab and the Edge. Then he could go to Scuttles Cove on CC. My DS did that for our cruise last week so that he could do a few activities with his sister in the Club/Lab. He had both the expensive-don't-lose-it wristband for the Club/Lab and the paper wristband for the Edge. You would have to register him for the Club/Lab before you get to CC.

That's not always an option. Some cruises do seem to allow those in the overlap age to go between Club/Lab and Edge, but more often than not people report their child had to make a choice of one or the other for the duration of the cruise.
