Using iphone on board

I'm taking my iPhone to use to take pics, but not for anything else. Is there a way to turn it off so I can't get any calls or texts? A surprise phone bill would not be a good thing

If you put it in airplane mode, it will trn off all cell & data activity, while letting use everything else on your phone.

Depending on the carrier you can turn off phone and texting services but leave the wifi on. Call you carrier from a land line or go to your carrier or apple store. My company sells cell phones so I have experience here.

You can also call your carrier and ask them to change your plan to International calling (still expensive/ but not as much if you had to make a call at port) for the 7 days.

I think this cost me 10 dollars for the week. And it automatically did go back to my usual plan but I did call and check.

I did not realize I had to turn it to airplane mode and now have a $250 phone bill just from those 7 days. Grateful to have it - originally it was just over $400 and they took off some of the charges for me.

Regardless of an international calling plan, onboard the ship all cell phone calls are through Cellular-at-Sea for something like $2.50 per minute! The international plan may help you in port.

As other posters have already stated, put it in airplane mode. We also were advised to turn off all notifications. We were able to use our's for taking pics and no surprise bill.

I have had a iPhone since the first one. I have taken many cruises with it. I can tell you no need to call your phone company. Just put it in airplane mode. You will not get any notifications, texts, phone calls. Also airplane mode automatically turns off the wifi. You can go in and turn the wifi back on in your general tab. I have always just turned on airplane mode and I have never gotten one charge for anything.
