Should I even try?

Okay....hi. :D
So, I've recently moved to Ottawa for University, loving the big city, it's a huge change from my hometown in the sense that I can be myself and nobody really cares. My hometown is pretty much the cultural armpit of Ontario, and the whole being different thing isn't very accepted there.

Anyway, I've been thinking recently about ways to tell my mum. I meant to tell her last October when we were at Disney World, because it just sort of feels right down there, however I chickened out for the thousandth time and went on with life as usual.
However, I'm going back for a short visit after the Quidditch World Cup and came up with a way to tell her. Mind you, I always make things over the top. I can't just call her up and be like "yo, mum, I like boys." I sometimes wonder how I plan to ever propose to someone with my high expectations of how things have to go down.

So my plan is to take a mixture of mine and hers favourite Disney characters and bring a mini white board into the park. I'd explain to each of the characters my plan, and take a photo with them.
First would be Alice, in which I'd be holding the white board and hugging her and it would say. "Hey Mom..."
Second would be her favourite, Snow White. I'd pose with her and the board would say "Did you know..."
Third is my favourite princess, Tiana. The board would say "That I..."
Now the last one I've been thinking of the hardest, mainly because I don't know if it would be allowed. My favourite movie/character/Disney related thing is Peter Pan, so I wanted to get a picture of me kissing Peter Pan on the cheek with the sign saying "Like guys?"
I'd get them all framed and give it to her on her birthday in May. Then promptly run away and live with my sister for a few months.

Anyway, would this be frowned upon by guests/CMs? I know little kids can get away with it easily, and adults with costumed characters, but a face character might be hesitant, especially the context. And I'd rather not bother if the last photo doesn't happen like that...because it's sort of the point of this whole project.
Thoughts? Opinions? Should I do something else? They're all welcome.

This is probably the most unorganized post ever. I'm just not used to writing about this stuff. =/

If you were my son I would want you to just sit me down and tell me I would love you unconditionally but since I don't know your Mum I will say this to your plans:

NO to the elaborate getting the characters involved, NO to telling her on her birthday if she reacts badly this will be a constant memory every year thereafter and its HER day afterall and definitely NO to telling her over the phone, that's not fair at all I wish you a happy life

Um, what?

Echoing the poster above. No. Just no.

There are plenty of casual ways you can have the talk, but be reasonable. Talk to your mom, in person if you can. But not on a holiday, and in a respectful manner.

If you're worried about how your mom is going to take the news (and it seems that you are) then you need to show that you're a mature adult who is confident and able to handle what the world throws at you.

Good luck, and I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Thumbs up

Let me first say that your plan is a stroke of genius. My mother, an out and proud mom of a GLBT person, would find it hilarious . That being said, my mom isn't your mom. I think if your plan really reflects you and your personality then you should go for it because this moment is less about her and more about you. I agree; however, that you should avoid coming out to her on her birthday, because that day is all about her and not about you. It's important to mentally prepare yourself for her reaction especially if it isn't positive, but that shouldn't over shadow you being proud to be you.

As a side note . . . I live in California and hit DL at least once a year. I've never met a CM playing Peter Pan that wasn't gay . I know a gay Prince Charming too! I'm actually in the process of planning a trip to WDW for my boyfriend and I (a first trip for both of us) when I ran across your post. I couldn't help but chime in! Best case scenario she loves it and kinda already had a clue (most mom's do) and it'll be a great story for the rest of your lives. Worst case scenario your sister will have a house guest for longer than expected.

Cheers,
Wesley

If your mom knows you pretty well then she probably already knows. Just sit her down and bring it up in conversation. How is Ottawa? I've never been I know down in T.O> nobody bats an eye at us 'mos
