When do they start offering Guaranty $ on a cruise

We are looking possibly to do a cruise on my 40th near the end of the year. I was wondering the time frame for offering guaranty pricing on rooms. We have also thought about other lines too, but any booking would probably happen really late trying to catch a good deal.

There is actually no "guarantee" pricing as once you book the price is guaranteed - meaning it won't change for you.

GTY staterooms may be offered at any time, usually once a certain percentage of rooms in a category have been booked. These guarantee a specific category of stateroom or higher will be assigned, but you are opting to allow DCL to assign the stateroom.

*GT rates are highly discounted and usually only offered after the PIF date if DCL deems necessary to fill the ship - so for most cruises that is within 75 days of the sailing date. But they aren't necessarily offered for all cruises. These rates usually have a lot of restrictions that go along with the reduced rates, including no changes and must PIF at time of booking. These are for broad categories - interior, oceanview or verandah - and you allow DCL to choose the room assignment at that level or higher.

Specific to year-end cruises...you probably won't find *GT rates until this fall. If you are really looking at year-end, meaning holiday time, I believe those cruises tend to fill without incentive so there might not be *GT rates unless you are looking slightly off-holiday timing.

A GTY rate does not have any discount at all. It's the same price, but it guarantees you'll get the category or something better.

To clarify, *GT rates refer to IGT (inside), OGT (outside) or VGT (verandah). Also, I don't there are any *GT rates ever available for 5 people. And then, depending on the clubs capacity, they might not be available for 2A2C.

Summer time, very rare, except end of August. Holidays? Forget it...

We are looking the end of November, the week after turkey day, so I was hoping to pick up a good deal on the Magic or Wonder for one of those sailings (hoping most traveled over turkey day). Especially since I have heard the Galveston sailings were not going over well as it is, I was hoping good deals would be available there.

Bumping to see if anyone knows when they start offering deals on sailings that aren't selling well. The date we are looking at should not be in high demand right after thanksgiving.

I sailed on the Fantasy the 2nd week in December, and I booked it when the guarantee rates came out around the beginning of October. So - about 2 months before the cruise, if that helps.

It does thanks. We will keep our fingers crossed that we find a good deal on DCL. Otherwise we try something else.
