OP, don't worry about it...the first offense is usually just a warning...unless it's blatantly disrespectful, and I've seen a LOT worse without any repercussions. Just a public service reminder that we're not suppose to encourage breaking Disney Rules.
No, I got the impression she was asking if the rule was enforced, which it isn't. And since she wasn't asking for advice on how to get away with something illegal I don't see how the OP asking her question with regard to what happens if you bring a drink with your own alcohol to the pool breaks the rules of the Dis boards as was implied above
Like I said before It's like asking what happens if you wear shorts to the dining room. A legitimate question.

I have never heard of anyone getting in trouble for bringing a drink to public areas and I am not going to tell people that is going to happen just because I don't want them breaking a DCL rule. It is not my job to enforce DCL rules.

But I do recall a Dis board rule about being rude and bullying other people and I try to make sure my posts are respectful and as diplomatic as possible. That's the rule I'm more concerned about....

I think it depends on the CM with regard to how they handle things like this. Another CM might not be so encouraging with regard to a bucket of beers in a public area. But a single drink won't cause a problem

I had read a trip report that the server encouraged this one group to buy their own wine in the ports and that it was fine to bring a glass to the table, but if they brought the bottle he had to charge the corking fee. But I am guessing it depends on the server you get. Can't hurt to ask them though.
