I hope the entire thing burns to the ground. Walt must be rolling in his grave! I have written no less than 10 letters a day to Disney BEGGING to not allow Starbucks to invade Main Street!

What's next Coca-Cola? Kodak? Nestle? Visa? Where does it end? The magic is gone.

His first major oopsy was that he didn't control the area around the perimeter of DisneyLand, so other corporates could build so he bought more land for Disney World so that wouldn't happen. So what do Disney World owner or whoever makes the decisions do? They put other corps right into the parks. I know they have McDonald's in Magic kingdom and Epcot, in their own little stands but to change "Main Street" by putting in a Starbucks? The horror. Sure when I visit I will NOT step foot in or around Starbucks. That's my decision. Not that I drink coffee any way, but if i need a refreshment I will walk 10-20 feet away to somewhere else. Starbucks will NOT get my $$ or snack credits.

I think it is sad that the current President (or whoever makes these decisions) is losing the sight of what Walt Disney wanted for his parks. Yes I know he's not around any more but it seems like whoever makes the decisions is losing site of the magic and the meaning of what walking up Main Street means to people. I know when I'm in Magic Kingdom walking up Main Street I just feel the magic.

I just don't know any more. My site of the magic is getting dimmer and dimmer because of these changes that Disney never wanted in the first place.

Don't even get me going about Avatarland. I mean that's not Even Disney. Soon Disney World will be like Universal Studios... Not that i'm saying Universal Studios is a bad place but when you think of Disney World you think of all the magic and the good memories...not Starbucks..
I so agree with you...call me old fashion but I like Walt's ideas the best.

Sorry but Walt loved Aerosmith. Walt is king. In his name I pray.

I think Walt Disney would be very happy with his parks today. You have to remember that he pretty much invented the family theme park concept copied all over the world. Before Disneyland there wasn't very much for families. I saw a documentary where Walt Disney described going to a carnival and it was filthy and most of the games were for adults and it just wasn't a very comfortable place to bring your kids. Disneyland created a safe, clean environment where people could bring their kids and people of all ages could have fun. Disney World and the other Disney Parks have brought that experience to a wider audience. I think his mission was successful. Obviously they have to make a profit to keep things going and to keep innovating. The only thing I could see done differently is I'm of the personal opinion that Roy and Walt would have been more personally invested if they were still with us. We would probably see more of the profits funnelling back into the parks for upgrades and repairs and creative new innovations. Walt Disney was a big kid. If he was still around he'd be pretty exited about some of the technology out there and looking for more ways to bring it into his park.

When I was little, Spaceship Earth was sponsored by AT&T. It used to have very long waits, but since my grandpa worked for AT&T, we got to bypass the line and go in through a side door. I felt so special.

Actually, Nescafe is more evil, because it is owned by Nestle.

Well, yes, that's true. Walt and I once went on a weekend bender with Steven Tyler.

How would a stranger know what Walt would think or do? My parents have been dead for decades. I couldn't even guess what their thoughts on the evolving world would be if they were alive, never mind what Walt would think.

As long as the sponsership isn't in your face with big signs and shops that don't match Disney, it doesn't bother me. In my family, only DD17 drinks coffee and she is happy with whatever I will pay for. So Starbucks being there doesn't bother me at all.

That too is subjective. I love Starbucks banana bread and scones and can't wait to have one of these with my chai tea. I understand that the Disney classics will still be there too so I see this as a win-win for everyone.

People always seem to know what Walt would want. Personally I don't have a clue.

Was there a McDonald's in Animal Kingdom in 2002? I could have sworn there was, because I remember my oldest asking if we could eat there?? I think it was in 2002. Can't remember if it was there in 2005 or the last time we went, in 2010.

MMM! Me too! I love their scones. Nescafe is just blech. Also, Starbucks pays a fair wage and gives health insurance to part-time employees. It's hardly an evil, evil company.

Exactly. The world is quite different today, and any intelligent businessman (as Walt Disney was), would know to advance along with the world.
