Death of Australian WDW intern
A similar article was in the Herald Sun today, but found this online from a few weeks back. This poor man's family, I hope they find those who were involved
FLORIDA Highway Patrol troopers have made a breakthrough in the hunt for the driver of a car that hit and killed a Disney World intern from Australia.
Mahmoud "Mike" Arabi, 22, from Melbourne, was living a dream after scoring an internship to work at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
It turned into a nightmare a little after midnight on Monday last week when he and a couple of friends decided to walk to a 7-Eleven to buy a Slurpee.
A green Ford hit Mr Arabi, who was dressed in his Disney uniform, on a pedestrian crossing, and the driver did not stop.
Mr Arabi's distraught mother and father, Nehed and Fadi Arabi, made a passionate plea at a press conference in Orlando on Friday for the driver to turn himself, or herself, in.
On Sunday the Florida Highway Patrol announced they had a "person of interest" and the suspect vehicle.
"Troopers have recovered a 1997 Ford Taurus that they believe was involved in the hit-and-run crash that killed 22-year-old Mahmoud Arabi," highway patrol spokesperson Sergeant Kim Montes said.
"The owner of the vehicle is a person of interest and is co-operating with troopers.
"The vehicle is currently being processed for evidence.
"This crash remains under investigation and charges are still pending."
Ms Arabi said her son's six-month internship at Disney's Animal Kingdom park was due to end in July and he had just booked his flight back to Melbourne.
At the press conference, where a $US2000 ($A1926) reward was offered for information about the hit-and-run driver, a distraught Ms Arabi read a postcard her son sent home.
"I am grateful for this magical Disney opportunity," Mr Arabi wrote.
The family is expected to fly back to Australia on Monday with their son's body.
Disney has offered the Arabis $US10,000 in financial support and issued a statement offering "our heartfelt condolences to all who knew and loved Mahmoud".

It's funny, but that's about one of the least likely things I think of happening in the US, simply because with the insurance laws over there people are usually so good about stopping for pedestrians!
I'm glad this guy got an opportunity to live one of his dreams but very sad they have been cut so short
