Squirlz, we have a place like yours, maybe a teeny bit more upscale. It's called The Grove, and has amazing local organic food. I just get their eggs and bacon with GF toast and it's one of my favorite meals.

We don't go often because its: far away from us; expensive; and you have to go back to the counter to get a coffee refill. DH hates that last item the most, but will occasionally cave because their food is so good.

It's nice to see more and more "farm to table" and whole food places around, maybe we will eventually get something on our end of town.

What do you think that guy in line is wearing on his face? Looks like a knitted beard!

I believe that's what it is. The clientele is often...colorful.

Johnnie's Beef in Elmwood Park, just west of Chicago.

They make their own Italian Sausage and Beef. There's always a line.

Our favorite is Randy White's Barbecue. (Yes, the ex-Cowboy Randy White but we try not to hold that against him. ) We love the meat and sauces.

In and around our little town near Charlotte, we have a few favorites:

-Thai Viet Noodle House is a little Thai/Vietnamese place about 10 minutes from our house in Indian Trail. They have the best Pad Thai I have ever had! Very inexpensive and the owners are so nice!

-D-Moe's hot dogs- they have amazing specialty hot dogs. DH's favorite is called the Arizona (pinto beans, tomato, jalepeno slices, and a few other things). I love the D-Moes signature dog (blue cheese slaw, onions, bacon-wrapped dog, hot sauce, jalepeno slices, homemade mustard sauce). Heavenly!!

-La Unica Mexican restaurant near our house. It is always packed because it is just really good Mexican food at great prices.

-Greco Freshe is a little further away (about 20 minutes in the Blakeney neighborhood) but it is a really great little Greek/Mediterranean joint. They have lemon oregano fries that are to die for and their homemade lamb gyros are just amazing.

*OH! Our favorite barbecue place is a 45 minute drive away in Huntersville called Lancasters. It is the BOMB!! Really great Carolina style barbecue, fried pickles, and hushpuppies. Totally worth the drive!
