Pressed penny ?

We have done the pressed pennies on at least one past trip. They are right now sitting somewhere in a pressed penny book. Is there an easy way to keep track of which pennies you already have? And has anyone come up with something more exciting to do with them?

You could use Google to find and print out a master list, then check off the ones you have. As for display, I have no suggestions.

And here is something neat to do with them.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest and the same thing we do. DH hates how much paper I carry with me to the parks...our list of things to ride in each park, reservation numbers for meals, the pressed penny listings, etc. It doesn't bother me though. I usually just bring the list of things for the park we are going to that day and the penny sheet for that park so it's 2 pieces of paper each day.

There is an app for your smartphone that lists where all the pressed penny machines are and let's you check off as you go. FYI, there's also a hidden Mickey one.

As for displaying, there is a great tutorial on pinterest about turning your pennies into charms for a charm bracelet. Pretty easy if you have a dremmel.

How does the penny press work? Do you just put a penny in and press it for free or do you have pay to press the penny? I have only seen the pressed penny machines (like at Cabelas) where you have to pay $2 to press your penny.

I believe they cost 50 cents, and the penny

It's 2 quarters and a penny. Before we went I bought the mini m n m container and stacked the quarters and new shiny pennies, it was so nice in theark not to rummage for coins. I think dd got about 18 of them! We did buy one of the Disney storage portfolios, it was cute and she loves it as a keepsake

A little tip on pennies..try to use ones that are pre-1982. In 82 they changed the metal content, which is why you sometimes see that bit of silver when you press them. Even if they are kind of dark, a little rubbing with some copper polish shines them right up.

I got so excited but, that penny finder app doesn't look like it would work for us. I think you check off the whole machine.

I use Good Reader app on my iphone and I download the PDFs from the internet and use the annotation in the Good Reader app to check off as we get new coins. It is a bit of a pain since sometimes we have to update the list and I have to check them all off again but, it is the only way I have found to do it.

Has anyone used this app:

http://www.hyliston.net/iphone/walt-...oins/howto.htm

I think it would be great but I'm a little concerned that it isn't an actual apple app.
Any users? If so - did it work for you??

TIA!
