Universal Studios/IOA in 1 day?

We will be going to Universal Studios in early May. This will be our first trip to Universal Studios. Is it realistic, with a 7 yr old and a 10 yr old, to do both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in one day?

As long as you're not expecting to do everything.

start touring the park when it opens and you'll be able to see highlights in both parks.

stay way from saturdays.

IMHO...you shouldn't try to cram both parks into a single day...especially on your first visit. There's too much to see and do that you won't have time for.

I agree with Metro. Just enjoy one park and see as much as you can. The bonus will be that you save some $$. You can always come back for the other park!

IoA in particular has incredibly themed lands, and the Port of entry has so many details, it is a pleasure to stop and smell the roses. There are so many rides and so many great places to eat, if you just do one park, you can see more of it and have extra bucks for souveniers!

i do agree with the others as you need a couple of days to do the parks but if you only want some of the highlights, you could do that.

for me, i don' see it being much fun or entertaining just to do 5-6 of the highlights and call it a day at the darkside.

you do lose out on the universal experience if you try to cram highlights only into a one day visit.

Thank you all for your replies. We will plan to spend 1 day in Universal Studios, and 1 day in IOA.

I think that's a great plan. We did it that way and leisurely made it through both parks. We have younger kids, so we skipped some things but had a great time.

Much better idea. This way you can pay attention to all the little details that make the parks so cool. Rushing things makes you miss all the little stuff.

We did both parks in one day and we were done by 2pm without express passes. We did all of the major rides (beginning with Harry Potter).. the longest line was Hulk which was 15 minutes. We also got our pictures painted which took about 30 minutes.
