Bonine not for kids

Bonine used to make a version for kids, but doesn't anymore. The adult version, I suppose could be cut in half or quartered, but could knock a kid out. Best to seek professional advice on the safety of the adult version for kids.

I have a list of 10 things I'm going to buy and try for my 4 1/2 year old, thanks to everyone. I hear smelling peppermint oil on a handkerchief works instantly too.

Wow so glad we have several boxes from last years cruise. My youngest gets sick on long rd trips but mine should last until she can switch to adult bonine. I did some searching and aparently drug users were mixing it with other drugs for a better shoot up high I would check with Dr it may still be available by prescription much like clariton d which was being used to make meth.. heck of a world we live in. It is worth the prescription if you can get one.

My oldest DD is now 7 and gets very motion sick and has since she was <2 years old (we used to not be able to drive for more than 45 minutes without her getting sick). When she was little we used to give her benedryl as recommended by her doctor. Now she takes chewable children's dramamine. (They are essentially the same medication). We have to make sure not to miss a dose or she will get sick. Good news is she can now drive about an hour and a half before she gets sick so if we are going to be in the car for an hour or more I give her benedryl.

My husband uses non drowsy dramamine or bonine (same medication - different label). It seems to work okay for him. he didn't take any the first cruise and felt off most of the cruise. I convinced him to take it the 2nd and 3rd cruise and he felt much better and didn't spend as much time in the cabin laying down.

This cruise I used the patch for the first time. Previously I used the non-drowsy dramamine and got sick at least once on each cruise. Other than the one morning the patch had fallen off and I didn't know it I had no issues at all this cruise and this cruise rocked and rolled a lot. That was a great improvement over the last couple cruises.

My almost 3 year old has no issues at all with motion so she takes nothing and runs around fine.

I brought herbal, non prescription and prescription meds. I started with the herbals and once the ship started moving my sea sickness kicked in. I ended up placing the scope patch behind my ear and that did the trick the entire cruise. Our second time around I bypassed the herbals and on our drive to the port placed the patch and had no issues. I also had zofran pills with me in case the patch didn't work, which I ended up using after the patch was removed as I had a residual rebound effect from the patch was dizzy for days after the cruise.

Last time I checked with our CVS pharmacist, they can order a couple boxes of the kids Bonine for you. It only took a couple days turn around time.

Amazon has Bonine for Kids. I'm not sure why it's $95 though?

I just looked it up on Amazon. It's $39.99.

Probably because it's not made any more and the supply is drying up.

Wow, then that person/company that I found selling it for $95 is really price-gouging!

We just got back from our first cruise and I was very nervous about seasickness. We each took a meclizine/child Dramamine daily. I also wore sea bands in the evening and had ginger gum. I never felt motion sick. I would chew a piece of the gum if I started feeling "off" but it almost immediately went away. DD and I both felt woozy while watching the ship move through the water, but even that improved after the first night.

I know the meclizine works for me as I use it for carsickness. Not sure if I really needed the other remedies or not, but I wasn't willing to risk it!

Being the mom, I always have Bonine, ginger pills, ginger ale, and Motion-Eze with us, just in case.

Motion-Eze is an oil that you rub behind the ear(natural ingredients) for motion sickness.

I used the Motion-Eze for the first day or two on our first cruise, because I didn't know if I would need anything. After that, I took a chance and didn't use it anymore. Turns out, I apparently don't need it.
Where do you buy the motion-eze?

We use motion ease for short trips...works great! Can be combined with meds and or wrist bands. We used with children's Bonine then would wean off bonine and just use motion ease as we reached our destination. In case of the cruise my kids didn't get seasick but used meds as precaution then motion ease then nothing. A big storm didn't even effect them on the Dream but driving 30 min in traffic is a no go..Go figure

We get ours at Walmart but it is only available in the spring early summer here. It is always down by the floor in tiny little bottle (small like chapstick).
