Thanks Lauren! Just found the article about it. So much new development going on. It's nice to know each year we return (at least for the next few) there will be something new to see!

This is the most common sense take on the whole situation I've seen

I read on another disney blog that the most likely changes coming to DHS is either the removal of the little mermaid and replace with phenius and ferb or removing beauty and the beast show and replace with tangled. The reason being the new fantasyland has the new UTS ride and the beast castle and ETWB. Idk if therea truth to this but it does sound realistic. We will see..

the replacement of the little mermaid is unlikely, however beauty and the beast is a possibility. we've had that for how long now? 1991 it opened... obviously it's a classic but maybe it's time to retire it, as much as i enjoy watching it for gaston

Remember when they talk about Parks and Resorts capital spending that includes two new cruise ships, Aulani, DCA makeover and Next-Gen development among other things, so they are scaling back from a pretty large number. There was an investor call with Jay Rasulo recently where he said they yearly capital budget for parks in resorts about be over 1 billion but far less then 2 billion, so we could be talking about 1.2 billion a year which is still pretty good investment.

good point however, lots of that capital budget is for misc projects, not massive large scale projects. I see 500 million to be allocated to Disney world. 200 to DTD, 200 million for resorts, theme parks misc projects and yes I belive dhs will get 80-100mill for a e ticket most likely features monsters inc. I would love to be wrong as a fan and get a $500 million plus dhs expansion, fiscally I don't see it.

Am I one of the only people who would be disappointed if CarsLand was introduced? I wasn't crazy about the first film and had NO desire to see the second one. I'd be much happier with something in regards to Star Wars. I'm also sad they're taking out the Backlot Tour though. I'm old school.

I really miss The Hunchback of Notre Dame show that used to be over on the otherside of the park! I loved having the cup full of confetti at the end! Haha. As much as I love the Beauty and the Beast show, I could stand to see a new show brought in. Tangled would be really neat.

Just thinking here...

Radiator Springs/Rt 66 would probably fit within Stage Lane boundary over to Cypress Drive, obviously knocking down the props warehouse/services (they'd have to be moved elsewhere on property) and moving the Ears Water Tower.

Radiator Springs Racers would probably fit in the BackLot Tour/LMA spot pretty well if the boarding area was where the water tank/movie scene of Backlot Tour is now.

If a world where budgets didn't exist, I think the below would be pretty nice -

Put in the long rumored/hoped for Monsters Inc coaster in the 'Hot Set' building, replace The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow with some kind of the Incredibles experience, move Pizza Planet over to where Studios Catering/High Octane is, and change the Honey I Shrunk the Kids area to a Brave set area with Bow & Arrow demonstrations, food/merchandise carts, and a meet and greet and Pixar Place would be pretty nice. The Incredibles area would be something that could be switched up to make it a space for the latest Pixar movie maybe.

But have you experienced Carsland? I am not a fan of the movies either, but Carsland is one of the most amazing, immersive environments I have seen in a Disney park. Even people who have never seen the movies would probably enjoy Carsland.

If they remove LMA and Backlot any maybe one or two backstages building then the whole Carsland as built in DCA would fit in that area. I have seen Photoshop markups of the area that demonstrate this.

I would love to see something Pixar happen in DHS no matter what it is if its Pixar i would be happy. The monster inc. ideas have always caught my attention and would love to see those things. I have never been to Disneyland but have been to disney world 5 times and would love to see Carsland go in DHS so I don't have to travel across the country. Either way i wouldn't care what would happen as long as its something new and exciting. But then again I don't think anything will happen now that Disney Springs is a go and supposedly Avatarland is still a go as well even though I think disney could do better. I always and will always enjoy exciting new things in the parks.

I hope whatever it is, it is something about a new ride!

Josh is a credible source in my opinion.

I would love it to be a Monsters Inc coaster, but do you really think they would do a second coaster? Cars Land would rock too, with all the princess development it would be good to counter it with this project.

Since they spent the money on Star Wars, it kind of makes sense that they would do something to justify the spending?

I like this thinking-- to add-- What's to stop from building carsland OVER Cypress Drive with tunnels for traffic to run through--- or even over the access rd to parking? Drive under radiator springs on your way to park. Lots of space to gain.
