I had a stick of CareFree gum, but it didn't work. I felt pretty good while I was blowing that bubble, but as soon as the gum lost its flavor, I was back to pondering my mortality.

Watermelon & Feta Salad (this was sooooo good....we had 4 of them during our trip)

For scaling purposes:

F&G Festival continued...

From Mexico:

Crab Tostada

From Italy:

Lobster and Asparagus (ugh....don't waste your $7.75 on this...totally not worth it. It's cold and the sauce overpowers the lobster...ugh!)

F & G continued...

The Smokehouse in America

Pulled Pig Slider topped with coleslaw (quite good and a lot bigger than those offered at Hawaii during F & W last year)

Beef Brisket with collard greens and jalapeno corn bread (if you like brisket then you will like this..think fat to meat ratio. The greens were good but the cornbread was quite disappointing).

I should also add that these are served without sauce and you can add your own at a kiosk if you wish)

More from F & G

UK:

Heirloom Tomato Salad with Mozz (just ok for me)

Baked Goat cheese (DW had this...I loathe goat cheese...she really liked it)

F & G

Morocco:

Lamb Kebab with couscous (DW liked this...I don't like lamb but I did try the couscous and it was great although served cold)

Harissa Chicken Leg with cucumber salad (I loved the spice on the chicken leg...the heat builds but I love heat and wish it were spicer. The cucumber salad was dull and bland)

F & G

Japan:

Chirashi Hanazushi (really good! If you like sushi then you will like this. All the seafood is cooked and it's pretty much a deconstructed sushi roll...I highly recommend this)

Epcot Food!

Beet Lolipop.... quite a mouthful!

We had some $ leftover from our last trip to the Flower and Garden Festival, but instead wanted to try Les Chefs des France!

Escargot... yummy but expensive!

French Onion Soup and Baguette..... We couldn't go to France and NOT order French soup!

Got so excited to see Remy that I forgot to take any pics of our entrees :-p

and finally... Dessert! Vanilla Creme Brulee

Flower & Garden (& Food) Festival with Figment
Figment just got back from his first Flower & Garden Festival! He made sure to sample many of the Flower & Garden Festival's food offerings. They reminded him a lot of the Food & Wine Festival.

Pineapple Promenade - Figment was really looking forward to having Pineapple Dole Whip in Epcot. It's one of his favorites at the Magic Kingdom!
Dole Whip ($4) - It tastes exactly like the one at the Magic Kingdom. It was slighly more expensive than the MK, but seemed to be a smaller amount (could be because it was in a cup).

Pineapple Upside Down Cake ($2.75) - The cake was moist. There was a dollop of pineapples in the middle, but overall it didn't have a lot of pineapple flavor.

The Cottages: Savories, Trifles and Teas - Figment was planning on trying all of the items here, but he ran out of time.
Trio of Trifles ($3.75) - Chocolate (left), Berry (right), and Ginger Tea (back). Figment liked all of these! The chocolate one was really rich, while the berry was lighter. Figment was surprised he liked the ginger tea one, but it was also really good.

L'Orangerie
Verrine charlotte au Péches (Carmelized Peaches with Rosemary and Light Vanilla Cream) ($5) - Figment really like the peaches and vanilla cream, but the middle sponge cake layer had an odd flavor. It was very pretty, but awfully expensive for the amount.

Hanami
Frushi ($4.50) (left) - Figment liked the fruits, but the combination of fruits and rice was just a little odd.

YakiSoba Pan ($4.00) (middle) - Figment liked the YakiSoba, but it was weird to be eating noodles in a bun. In the end, he ate the noodles separately.

Chirashi Hanazushi ($6.00) (left) - Figment liked this one the best out of Hanami's offerings. There was a pretty good amount of seafood.

The Smokehouse: Barbecue and Brews - This was probably Figment's favorite booth at the Flower & Garden Festival. It had pretty high prices, but the food was all pretty good.
Smoked Beef Brisket with Collard Greens and Jalapeno Corn Bread ($6.75) (left) - Figment liked this one. The beef had good flavor and was pretty tender. The biscuit had a bite!

Rocky Road Brownie Mousse ($3.00) (middle) - Figment really liked this brownie. It had a dense layer and light mouse layer. Very chocolaty!

Pulled Pig Slider with Cole Slaw ($5.50) (left) - The pulled pork had good flavor, as did the cole slaw.

Primavera Kitchen - This booth had some of the most expensive food items and none of them were really worth the cost.
Lasagna Primavera (Spinach Lasagna, Green Peas, Zucchini, Mushrooms, Broccolini, Béchamel and Fresh Tomatoes with Garlic and Basil Leaves) ($6.00) (left) - Figment thought it was kind of bland (personally, he thought some sausage would have really helped).

Asparagi con Aragosta all'Ortolana (Green Asparagus and Lobster with Garden Cocktail Sauce ($7.75) (right) - This was one of the most over-priced dishes at the festival. The flavor was pretty good, but not really worth the cost.

Bauernmarkt
Potato Pancake with House-made Apple Sauce ($2.75) - Figment kind of liked this dish; the apple sauce was good (very smooth), but the potato pancake was kind of mushy.

Coming up next time the Lotus House, Jardin de Fiestas, and Florida Fresh!

Flower & Garden (& Food) with Figment

Continuing now with Flower & Garden (& Food) with Figment...

Lotus House
Beijing-Style Candied Strawberries ($3.50) (left) - The strawberries are encased in a hard, but brittle, sweet coating. Figment liked these, but they were kind of sticky.

Spring Pancake with Grilled Chicken and Green Apples ($4.50) (middle) - The sauce had a bite to it! Figment generally liked this dish.

Pan-Fried Vegetable Bun ($3.75) (right) - Figment thought this was bland. He didn't really care for the filling (noodles, vegetables).

Close-up of the pancake:

Close-up for the inside of the bun:

Jardin de Fiestas
Tostada de Jaiba (Crab Toasta served with Chipotle Mayo and Valentina Sauce) ($5.50) (left) - The sauces were spicy, but the rest of the toasta had really good flavor. Figment really liked the crab!

Tacos de Carnitas (Pork Carnitas topped with Tamarindo Salsa) ($4.95) (right) - Figment generally liked the flavor of the carnitas and it was not spicy.

Florida Fresh
Watermelon Salad with Pickled Red Onions, BW Baby Arugula, Feta Cheese, and Balsamic Reduction ($3.50) (left) - Figment liked this salad. It was nice and light.

Shrimp and Stone Ground Grits with Andouille Sausage, Zellwood Corn, Tomatoes, and Cilantro ($5.50) (right) - Figment also liked this dish, althought it had a slight bite (mostly from the sausage). The shrimp were good (not rubbery) and the grits were nice and creamy.

Angel Food Cake with Macerated Florida Berries ($3.25) - Figment really liked this dessert. The berries were very sweet!

Okay, that's it for the Flower & Garden Festival Foods. Overall, Figment generally liked the foods he tried, but he likes the Food & Wine Festival better. There are more offerings and more variety.

Next time...Wanayama Safari dinner at Jiko...
