Wilderness Lodge Ferry to the Magic Kingdom

For our upcoming June trip to the world, we're staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time. I LOVE the fact that we are able to take a boat to the MK. Can anyone who's stayed at the Wilderness tell me how long the boat ride to the MK is? I'm also wondering how soon we should arrive at the dock in the morning. Lastly, we're bringing along a double stroller, will we have to fold it up on the boat? Thanks in advance.

We were there last month and the boat ride was between ten and fifteen minutes. Time seemed to pass fast. There are two types of boats and the larger one will allow you to roll the stroller on without folding it. The smaller boat requires you to fold up the stroller. The morning can be a little crowded on the boat dock. But we found that Disney planned for it and had one boat waiting while the other was at the dock loading. Once the morning rush was over, we never seemed to have a problem getting on the next boat.

We loved the boats. They were great.

I agree with the pp that the boats don't take long at all and it's a nice and relaxing ride. Having the boat to MK is one of the many things we love about the WL. Have a great trip .

I agree that the boat ride didn't seem that long. Also remember that there is a separate boat to the cr. if you just miss a boat to the mk (or it is full) and one for the cr is there you can always take that one too and walk over to the mk.

How long is that walk from CR to MK?

The walk is about 10 minutes I would say.

Some will say its a short walk.... But in reality, it's down the boat ramp at the CR, either thru the lobby or around the side of the building and then the sidewalk trip to the MK.... Hot summer heat, pushing a double stroller.... Quite a hike, I'd say easy 30 minute walk....

Ugh...no thanks. I'll wait on that ferry boat from the Wilderness to the MK.

I'd arrive at the boat dock 15 minutes or so before you wish to depart for MK. That should be fine unless it's a really popular time. The boats are a most lovely way to get to and from MK, though the bus service isn't bad, either. In fact, WL has some of the better bus service at the World. As someone suggested, you can also take a boat to CR then walk over. Some say it's a 10-min walk and others half an hour--I'd split the difference. From the lobby of CR to MK is 10 minutes give or take (given that you're pushing a stroller, I'd say add a couple of minutes), so tack on the time to get from the boat docks at CR to the lobby, and it shouldn't add up to more than another 10 minutes or so. Obviously, crowds may affect your actual experience. That being said, usually your best bet is just to wait for another MK boat, but certainly keep the CR option in mind. Have fun!

On our last trip to WDW we stayed at WL. We took the ferry almost exclusively to MK and Epcot. While our trip was in January and the crowds were surly much lighter than what you will experience in June, waiting for a boat was never an issue. We saw many families board the bigger boats with their strollers (of all sizes) and bring their folded strollers on the smaller boats. Never an issue and the cast members were always willing to help as needed.

We do the reverse here, boat to the MK from the WL and do the walk leaving to the CR, little shopping upstairs and then out the back of CR to their boat dock to the WL.... Along the way is the splash area (CR) and we let the granddaughters get soaked there to cool off, then the short boat ride....

I guess I'm thinking of how long it takes us from BLT...adding the walk down to the dock might add a few minutes.

I have not walked from the cr to mk. But I do know it only took maybe 5 minutes to get from the boat dock to the lobby. Just suggested it since sometimes it's nice to walk instead of waiting. The boat to the cr also starts running earlier in the morning.

I just suggested it because one morning a boat to the mk was leaving just as we walked up. A boat to the cr came to the dock a couple minutes later but another mk boat didn't get there for about 15-20 minutes so I regretted not grabbing the cr boat lol.

We can take the ferry to Epcot too? I was unaware of that?!
