dining plan yes or no?
Planning a trip 12/1/13 for myself and my dd10. Trying to decide if the two of us could possibly eat $120 worth of food a day. Or should we go for the qs plan at $80. Traveling with two other families with young children who are very picky eaters.

Since you are going with a group of people we've found it easier to do QS .When we go with just our two kids we do TS.It's not always easy to get everyone to agree on a sit down and even getting Ressies for the resturant ...the less choas you have will only make EVERYONES vacation more enjoyable..i know from past trips..lol

Are the other families using the dining plan? If they aren't going to use it, then I think you will spend less money if you pay out of pocket for your food since you will have to pay adult prices for your daughter.

I did the math for the dinning plan and found for a 10 year old it didnt work for us as at that age they are "adults".
I went over to allers.com and looked at the menus we would visit and added up what we would order.

Unless the others you are travelling with are on the DDP and eating at character buffets, you will have the most flexibility and savings by going OOP.

To be honest if you don't mind eating CS for every meal you and your daughter can eat 3 CS meals a day for less than the $80 the QSDP will cost you for just getting 2 meals.
Breakfast CS meal runs around $8 and lunch and dinner CS with drink runs around $12. That is $32 each per day and that covers all 3 meals not just the 2 that you will get if you buy the quick service dining plan. Now there are some CS meals out there you can seek out like at WPE that may cost you over $15 and then it might break even having the QSDP but for most CS meals they run $12 or less. If you add a dessert then you can add $3 or $4 more. But for us, if we aren't on the FREE dining pan where you get the dessert with each meal we would never order dessert. We never do no matter where we eat so we prefer to not have them on vacation. It helps minimize the weight we will gain on vacation.
