Can't decide between two hotels.

So I'm planning a trip for 10-27-11/1 and I've narrowed my hotel search down between the Wilderness Lodge and the Yacht Club.

Each of them offer things that I greatly enjoy, and some things that I'm on the fence over.

I've done some number crunching and assuming there is the same discount offered in the fall as is going on in the spring, I'm looking at 1593 v 1543.25 for the hotels respectively WL CY v YC GV.

When it comes to the theme parks, I mainly split my time between MK and Epcot. Studio and AK pretty much get a half a day each at most for me.

When it comes to the Wilderness I love the theme work, I adore the Pacific NW, and I've stayed there quite a few years ago, plus it'll allow easy trips to Artist Pointe for Dinner, and the boat ride to MK and the Contemporary.

On the other hand, the Yacht Club gives me super easy access to Epcot during F&W, which is a big reason why I'm planning to go during this time. I'm not a big swimmer, so Storm Along Bay really isn't a tipping point for me.

It's only a difference 50$ so it's not like one choice over each other would break the bank.

How has the WL been since the rehab?

I would take Yacht Club, just so I could be able to walk to Epcot and also be able to take boat to Hollywood studios.

We were at the WL last month and the rooms were really nice. They are darker than the YC and a little smaller, but overall we had a very nice stay there.

We are big fans of the BC and have stayed there many times. We have stayed at the YC once, too. We love the Epcot area for the same reasons you do, but we also love the WL. One thing we really liked at the WL that is missing at the YC is the counter service restaurant. We loved Roaring Forks.

For Food and Wine I'd be tempted to go back to the YC. We really missed not be able to walk right into the World Showcase when we were at the WL. The bus ride to Epcot is a little annoying because of the stop at Ft W.

It is a tough decision when you like both resorts.

I always wondered if you'd almost break even in time wise, if you took the boat to MK, Monorail to TTC, then TTC to Epcot.

Versus the bus, and road traffic.

We've talked about that option, too, Although the boat to the CR, then the monorail might be a little faster. The bus ride back to the WL from Epcot or HS is much nicer, since it is the first stop.

We've never stayed at the YC, but have stayed at the WL and BC. Even though we liked the BC and had a great stay, we love the MK resort area (as well as the WL). With that said, if you will be spending a lot more time at Epcot over MK, I'd go with the YC. But if the time will be evenly spent between the two parks (and you are planning a dinner at Artist Point), I'd go with the WL. Good luck.

We stayed at WL pre- and post-refurb. The new rooms look great! They seem brighter and more open feeling yet still retain that wonderful "lodge" feel. We dined at Artist Point and Roaring Forks and enjoyed both. We actually took the bus to MK after reading a tip on the WL thread that it was usually faster than the boat -- it was! The bus to Epcot, however, was heinous. We took a cab back. We also really love the peaceful, secluded setting at WL.

However... we'll be staying at YC in June. Now, much of it is to try out SAB, but being able to walk to Epcot (my son's new favorite park) is unbeatable. We had previously stayed at BWI and loved it, though we weren't crazy about the shops/dining being outside on the boardwalk. YC has that self-contained set-up we prefer. Also, from what I've read here, while the atmosphere around the lake and on the boardwalk is lively, the YC itself is quiet and peaceful, which we appreciate.

So I think you can't go wrong with either BUT for a F/W trip, I'd definitely stay at an Epcot resort. YC FTW.

For a Food & Wine trip, I'd pick the Yacht Club -- it's hard to beat that walk to Epcot, especially since the IG will put you right into World Showcase. Great for dining options as well.

we love wl - and if you weren't going durng f&w - i would wholeheartedly tell you to go there -

but i have to go with other posters - that anything w/in walking to epcot during f&w would be better - as long as you're going to walk - i know the boat gets really crowded at closing

I agree with the others YC for location especially for food&wine. Beautiful atmosphere and many dining choices between BC, BWI and Swan & Dolphin.
Have a great trip!

On one hand I really want to try something new (YC), but I have great memories at the WL. Outside of the 2 days I set aside for Epcot, most of my dining reservations will end up being on the Monorail line, and MK.

I would go with the WL then. We loved the BC and its close proximity to Epcot, but our experience with the bus transportation wasn't very good. I think the buses are hit or miss at the Epcot resorts as there are varying reports on transportation, but the buses during our stay were always crowded with standing room only and seemed to take forever getting to/from MK. The time it took getting places didn't really bother us, but always getting on a crowded bus and having to stand was frustrating. Other than the 2 days you have allotted for Epcot, you might be spending a lot more time getting around when going other places.

And if you really can't decide you could always toss a coin or roll dice to decide

If we were visiting Disney primarily for the F&W Festival we would without a doubt select an Epcot Resort. If the rates between YC and WL are only $50 difference I would without hestitation select YC. WL and AKL are normally your lower rate Deluxes. Temperatures can be still high and humid in October, so an afternoon dip in SAB would be very easy and convenient on a hot day..just to change things up a little.
