That is such a fun app! I haven't used it lately because winter weather drove me indoors to the treadmill over the last couple of months, but I will probably break it out again once I can get outdoors!

I'll have to check it out. Speaking of running from zombies, you should see if there is a zombie run close to you. I'm probably doing one in Miami in October. Just look up zombierun or thezombierun

There was one about 2 hours away a few weeks ago - that was the closest I've seen. (And you got a discount for being one of the zombs instead of one of the humans - who could resist being a zombie and getting to dress up in those circumstances?)
But that was too far as I had other commitments.

I had to sit out for a week because I ignored my bursitis instead of dealing with it; now I'm doing what I knew I should've been doing but wasn't - icing my knees and my hip down after every run (also good on long car rides to Disney). So I sit with my ice packs and think "yeah, it's runner 5 with her ice packs, because the base can't afford for me to get bursitis again."

She is going to LOVE this.
An Itunes gift card and some sort of printout about the app. Awesome!!
(And cheap, lol.)

Oh, yeah, I'm gonna be the cool mom!
(And maybe i can borrow it once in a while. THat's sure to get my heart beating....)

Thanks for the recommendation. My daughter and I both downloaded it to our respective devices and started today. It sounds like it'll be a lot of fun, much more enjoyable than the standard C25K app I had been using. And our first goal? An August Zombie Run 5K.

Thanks for the link on the zombie run, I haven't heard of that one!

Here are two others:

http://www.runforyourlives.com/
This one you get 3 flags (like flag football) and if you get to the finish with at least one flag, you've survived. No flags, you're infected and the finisher medal you receive states "survived" or "infected". Love it, but you'll see lots and lots of mud if you watch the youtube videos.

http://www.thewalkingdeadescape.com/index.html

Looks like there is no mud in this one. I'm considering doing it.

How far do you run on the non C25K version? I am thinking about trying it, but I'm not sure which one to get.

I think, if I remember correctly, when I set the app up it asked you to enter a time you are comfortable with (I think it was either 30 min or an hour long) so I entered the 30 min one. It basically plays a song from your playlist and then it gives you a mission and zombies usually turn up

Okay, so you it is a timed run and you just go how far you go!

I have this app and love it - but the zombies got me the other day. I do a 3 min run/1 min walk so guess I wasn't running fast enough LOL! so I just started the mission over - it really is a fun app for those practice runs.

I downloaded it, but I haven't tried it yet. How do you time your run/walk intervals?
