Yeah it does suck... EVEN the DCL people didn't know. There were just two groups i.e. 6 and 7 and you get assigned a bus number, both depart at virtually the same time. The only way we found about it is that we knew people who were on the tour, but weren't on the same bus. We NEVER saw them all day and in the evening asked where they were, that's when we found out about the reverse order of our tour.....

I totally agree. We're only 4, but I don't think we'd survive 12 days in the same cabin, unless it was a one bedroom suite, and that price for this cruise was CRAZY!!!!!

Call us crazy but we are doing it twice in one cabin. But seriously, the pixie dust really does make the cabin work.

It's more like we like to cruise so we do what we can to do it more often. And actually because we know where everything goes In The cabin, we fit pretty well.

Which just reminded me to bring some febreeze or wipes or something for the steamer trunk storage as sometimes they smell like other people's sweaty sneakers.

Hi Poohmomof5! We are doing much the same as you...

we are booked on the monaco, monte carlo and eze tour, and we are booked on the 11:35 secret itineraries tour at the palace.

We are doing pisa/lucca, rome and pompeii/sorrento/amalfi on our own with a driver and guide.

My girls are almost 12 and almost 7. I am sure they will be glad to have some more kids around

So many great pointers on keeping the kids entertained and happy! I figure lots of pizza and gelato

we did the cruise in 2007 and 2010 and Disney did a great job in their hire of tour companies that cater to the family aspect of the groups and focus on the kids. Our daughter was 8 yrs. old the first time and made pizza in Sorrento. The people in the pizza shop who were locals could not have been nicer to the kids and they seemed to actually be Disney cast members if you did not know different. Your kids are going to have a great time.

For those of you doing Pompeil on your only, and with kids, let me recommend you hire a guide. Yes they can be pricey, at 100 euro, but we saw so much and were given explainations of the type of people who would have lived in the houses we toured, the political system, commerce and daily life. Our guide even pointed out a black pepper tree. He kept the entire family engaged during out visit. I was very happy we went in the morning as the place was getting hot and crowded just as we were leaving.

We are skipping Pompeil this time as heading as far down the Amalfi coast as we can in a day. I left a piece of my heart there last time, guess I'll be totally hooked after this visit.

We are doing the Amalfi Coast too, skipping Pompeii, our kids did not see Pompeii and it would probably be good for them but I also think they would get bored. How many are in your party? We are renting a driver, we have 4, want to share a car and driver?

Came across this Med trip report that while not a DCL cruise did have many of the same ports as ours.

Thanks for sharing the website, I plan on purchasing as well. Didn't think to do it before the trip, Smart... I'm pretty sure you were on our Baltic Cruise, I remember the name on the Disboards, wonder how many others we'll see. There was a family on our Baltic Cruise that was on our last Med. Cruise, fun to see people again...

Yes, I loved that Baltic cruise
That was the first time I did so many excursions without DCL and probably because Barb was on the cruise and was able to relay her previous experiences on a prior non-DCL Baltic cruise. Love these boards for the info and the chance to chat with other people who like the planning stage too

You're welcome Lori (spelled wrong too),
My printing was done late at night so no problems, but the confirmation email they send you also has the tickets attached as well so check your email

We booked this cruise the day it came out and spent the first month just reading everything we could find. Then my DH lost interest in planning and I've been doing it little by little since then. The trip reports are starting to blend together
But, yeah, it is all coming together now.

Really grateful for the folks that took the time and trouble to write trip reports
Wish I had that kind of discipline. Both DH and I have tried to keep journals in the past and wind up forgetting about them after a couple days...
Thank God for pictures
